I have an Evoque and they are fun as hell to drive. We had another kid since I initially got it and it is way too small for a family of four. The trunk space is nonexistent. Our jogging stroller takes up the entire space. I've never had issues with reliability but sometimes the electronics can fickle.
Like another poster said, leasing is the best way to go. Complete warranty for the term of the lease and service is only once a year. Mine is up next year and I'm debating on the LR4 or RR Sport for my next lease. I may go with a truck though, SVT Raptor or Tundra TRD Pro. I'll be sure to ask the OT's opinion when that time rolls around.

Overpriced POS. Enjoy going to the shop constantly and overpaying for repairs

I have heard way more negatives than positives from the people I know that HAD them.

Yup.... I've heard the same. I've also done a shite ton of research b/ c my wife likes that new mid size they came out with... There isn't anything good being said out there by anyone.
Reminds me of when Chevy and ford were rolling out all that cheap shite in the early 90s... Things always breaking.
Also, I've read that many of the dealerships have bad raps for being snooty assholes and having terrible service depts. I'm staying away from that shite like it's the plague.

Only thing I would consider is an old defender or a Range Rover Holland & Holland edition

Oh you'd consder it

Ok, let me clarify
Defender I almost bought, just couldn't justify it as far as maintenance for my everyday driver
Holland & Holland edition is what I dream about

Owned a 2000 Land Rover - was complete shite. Unreliable, expensive, always had something wrong with it. I loved the way it looked, but man, that car never gave me peace of mind.
I'm sure they've engineered the car a bit better since 2000, but I would never put money in a LR ( or Range Rover) ever again.

It's funny that you laugh at them being shitty and having shitty customer service. You've obviously never owned one or known someone that's owned one.
I've known several people who've owned them. They're always in the shop. There's a damn good reason they have the reputation that they do. I'd never buy one.

I spend a good bit of time in and driving a top of the line Land Rover Range Rover. Beautiful vehicle. Gets uncomfortable after 3-4 hours. Acceleration is off the charts.
Passed two 18 wheelers and hit 115 before I could blink. The Rover crouched down and had a lot more to give. I think it has 500 horses.
But it's like a Steinway piano. Always needing something fine tuned. Maintenance, oils changes, brakes, etc. are pretty damn the expensive.
Needs to be hand washed. All the sensors really hate Benny's car wash tunnel.
Leasing is the only way. But I still want one. Badly.

I had a 2003 Discovery HSE a long time ago. It was like clockwork. At 36,000 miles, everything started breaking. Best thing that ever happened to that vehicle is when someone wrecked into me and pretty much totaled it. I probably saved a lot of money in repairs because of that drunk asshat.
Customer service was always great. They had to be. You will see them a lot and after the warranty, everything is very pricey. Good customer service helps settle the sting of the bill. In the 12k miles between being out of warranty and wrecked, I probably paid close to 5k in repairs for everything from power sunroof and window malfunctions to serious electrical issues. A slight engine knock began to develop at 42000 miles. Their technicians said it was part of the character of a Land Rover. I had everything routinely maintained at their dealerships.
I still miss that PoS sometimes. It was great when it worked.
