Since summer is here, I decided to dust off my Xbox and buy a "new" game. I'm like two hours into the game and it has more info than I can process haha. So I guess I'm looking for any general tips like things to pick up, spells to use, recipes for potions, skills to upgrade, anything really

Giants are friendly, go right up to them and they drop all sorts of rare armor and weapons.
Joking, . I haven't played Skyrim in over a year, and can't remember much, so I'm not much help with advice. Enjoy it, it's a blast. I wish I could play it for the first time again.
I will say, I liked using one-handed weapons, just because they're quicker. Not certain it was a good strategy. I'm not the best at it.

Just explore. The game is filled with so much. The visuals, music, and random events make for a great adventure. It's a grwat experience.

When I played through in 2011-2 you could max sneak by crouching and casting in the middle of a town.
They may have patched that. Been a while since I've played
I also played with one handed weapons, either dual wielding or uses the off hand to heal.
Enjoy the game

Best advice I can give when you're first starting off is don't pick up everything you see. It's tempting because you can, but it really isn't worth the hassle carrying it all back to a store to sell. You'll find plenty of gold.

Level sneak all the way up. When you do so, you are unstoppable with a dagger. You'll be able to run up to someone in combat, hit crouch and attack right after each other. You'll disappear and then assassinate them 90% of the time. Very satisfying.
Easiest way to level up sneak is to go to the Greybeards, find one that is praying, crouch behind him and hit him with a dagger. There are plenty of videos on it.
End Result

My advice is to restart as a wood elf, raise bow and sneak to max (There's a way to get an Ebony Bow early on), and at the very least get your fus ro and dah shouts minimum. That'll let you toss giants and send trolls off cliffs.

Go find a Frost troll and poke it with a stick...

I've been playing for a couple months now, taking my time exploring and just enjoying the overall scenery and scope of the Skyrim continent.
The easiest way to make money is to build up your alchemy skill by collecting as many ingredients as you can across the continent and experiment with them by tasting them and combining them at an alchemy station. Once you've tasted and experimented enough, you'll unlock most of the attributes for most ingredients and as your skill improves you will make stronger and more valuable (expensive) potions you can use or sell.
Also, I recommend leveling your smithing ability as often as you can to improve weapons and armor with better materials (glass, ebony etc.)

I played a Paladin type:
1h and Shield, Healing Magic, Alchemy, Smithing, Enchanting
I got to the point where I couldn't really be killed.
It was fun.

Figure it out, it's better to learn as you go

The easiest way to level up conjuring is to get to a place where there are enemies, they can see you, but they can't attack you, and keep conjuring swords.
Also, don't sell soul gems, just collect them. After you hit about level 15, enchant every single piece of equipment you pick up off bandits and sell it.

All of this Skyrim talk is making me want to go buy another X360 and play Skyrim. I miss it so bad. June 9th can't come fast enough.
