Well, that doesn't look that bad.

And chick in pink at the bottom looks nice too.

Scruffy still thinks it is a retarded project though.

Like most things one must dig just a hair deeper...

Kevin Cope is an English professor at LSU.

Guess what department is facing major cuts due to their inability to bring in research finding?

So he's whining that the students won't support his friends? What a joke.

Why not use it to renovate the old Huey Long pool and building?

Seriously? This is an actual project?

Who is the idiot who came up with that stupid idea?

That may be one of the dumbest ideas Scruffy has ever heard of.

College students are morons.

I believe it is a part of the UREC expansion

I don't think it looks bad either. Like I said before, at least the logo font is conducive to the construction of a pool.

It does still come off as some bros sitting around in their dorm room going "dude, you know what would be sick? A pool...shaped like the LSU logo." High fives all around, with the words "bro" and "sick" and "dude" intermittently being thrown around.

How about instead of attacking me, you just answer my question. Where specifically was he dishonest?

The way finances work at the university are very much like government. Got to spend the money to show that you need the money. That's why we end up with so much stupid crap that isn't really needed. These different departments suck up money that can be used for something that would be beneficial to the education part of the university instead of putting in new rec fields or something that is secondary.

Again, I know this money was apparently raised differently, but I still think the student government should realize the situation and define new requirements as to how the money can be used to truly help the school. By increasing fee bills to help the rec center, you take away from the ability to increase fee bills to help the school in general.

So having nice things as a pull to enroll more students in and out of the state is or is not in LSU's best interest?

The money was voted on, raised, and project decided before there was a budget cut.

Before.

Now you want to go back on that deal? Pathetic.

99.9% chance that that is exactly what happened.

One of them was probably wearing this hat too.

His entire argument is centered around budget cuts when this has nothing do with that.

Also, the lazy river is a part of an overall expansion of the LSU UREC. So this project isn't just for a lazy river. this is a UREC fee self imposed by the students to be used as the students want.

But you already knew that, congrats on the hook

And yet the quote from him you bolded acknowledged that the money didn't come from where the cuts are coming from. Where is the dishonesty?

I didn't fall for any hook, I'm just curious why you chose a word that misrepresents the situation.

I'm not super familiar with the situation. But we have been dealing with the "sky is falling" financial situation at LSU since graduated 5 years ago. Shouldn't have been voting on BS stuff like that when there are more important issues facing the university. This didn't come up "after the fact"

And as far as the nice features attracting new students . Do you really believe that? Do you really want the type of student attending LSU that makes their decision based on if they have a lazy river or not? It's all nice things to have. And I do think they are a benefit to the university, just not nearly as much as people think. 90%+ of students have no idea what the rec looks like before enrolling. I took a tour of the school (parents requested) before attending. They do not show you the rec. It is not a selling feature.

This is like buying an Escalade while living in a trailer. Get your priorities straight.

No, it fits perfectly fine. The teacher is trying to create controversy about 2 things that have zero to do with each other.

Furthermore, this is part of a larger project... It isn't just LSU building a lazy river, they're improving the outdated UREC. He paints it differently in his quote. Grasp that?
