I think the fee per semester is going to go from 155 to 200. That may be wrong though.

I'm merely stating that voting to put the money in that account in the first place isn't the best use of that money. I agree that it's been voted upon and you can't touch it now.

I'm confused what you are arguing for. The majority of the students voted in favor of putting this money towards the rec (aka the majority of the students see the value in the rec). So basically you're complaining about the fact that your side lost the vote? (I don't believe you think the money should go to what it was voted on considering in other posts you have said the money should go to other buildings that are not associated with the rec)

Also, you say that the money shouldn't be pulled from the account. So since you agree that it has to go to the rec, would you be satisfied if it went to additional treadmills and weights rather than a pool?

This was added a few years ago, before the current financial situation. I don't think it was the student's responsibility to predict what has happened since.

Get outta here with that. All of us who voted on this in 2011 should have foreseen the 2015 state economic outlook. Maybe if we spent less time working out at the worst gym in the SEC during that time and more time stuffing our face at the Union we would have KG6's wisdom.

The only way you're getting him to spend more time in the Rec is to add a Raising Canes that gives away free canes sauce.

Lotta truth in that post.

Y'all also should've spent more time listening to the Faith Fire Fellowship preachers.

Y'all need Jesus.

No you aren't familiar. That's why your contents sound retarded.

Oh and I said nothing about attracting new students. Maybe you were one of the good professors students with that double fail in reading comprehension.

Pathetic.

Another thing I'd like to point out is that having the lazy river in the shape of LSU does not increase cost and could actually decrease cost. Design requirements will list a required volume of water for the lazy river and formwork and reinforcing are cheaper for straight runs than curves.

I'm just confused. There a lot of times I don't agree with what the majority of the population votes for but what options does that leave me (presidents/mayors/tax increases). Am I going to spend my days posting on message boards for pages and pages saying how stupid everyone is and that we must remove Obama from office and replace him with someone else? No, I either decide to suck it up and move on or I move to a different place.

The way finances work at the university are very much like government. Got to spend the money to show that you need the money. That's why we end up with so much stupid crap that isn't really needed.

Has ZERO to do with the topic at hand.

Again, I know this money was apparently raised differently, but I still think the student government should realize the situation and define new requirements as to how the money can be used to truly help the school.

Why? The fee was created for this purpose and approved by the students who paid it. Bitching about it because it coincides with a budget crisis is silly.

No kidding

But we have been dealing with the "sky is falling" financial situation at LSU since graduated 5 years ago. Shouldn't have been voting on BS stuff like that when there are more important issues facing the university. This didn't come up "after the fact"

The students voted for it. The students pay it. What exactly is the problem?

A healthier population also decreases costs. Maybe ole boy can start pulling his weight (pun intended) and get his arse on some of that new equipment that we voted to pay for.

Yup. The faculty senate newsletter reads like the authors and contributors are in a contest to prove who has the largest vocabulary. "Hey guys, look how smart we are!"

A. That pool is badass.

B. That is a ridiculous way to spend money.

C. Students are stupid.

D. They should have built a big arse parking garage somewhere.

E. That teacher should have kept his mouth shut.

Rope course has been there for a while now.

Lazy river

It is a pool. I think if it was just a regular pool instead of an LSU shaped one, people would have 0 issue with it

Boom!

Disregard "D" from my list.

Carry on.

While maybe not needed for this list we still need several more parking garages and the financial situation has already caused the bond sale for the residential housing (which included a rather large parking garage) at the old box to be postponed.
