This Saturday at Jazzfest was the worst festival experience of my life

I have been to music festivals all over the country and a couple internationally.

Saturday at Jazzfest was so overcrowded it was embarrassing. I was there for 3 hours and we barely saw any music. Even the smaller stages were completely overflowing. Bathroom lines took nearly an hour as well.

We got within what felt like a half-mile of Elton John stage 1 hour before showtime and didn't even attempt to go closer.

We got cheap tickets outside the gates from someone, thank god, because we just left.

I have been to Jazzfest Saturdays 4 times and nothing has ever compared to this. I was told it was because no one went to weekend before due to rain, but they REALLY need to cap the amount of tickets they sold. I think they should let half that many people be there at once. It had to be unsafe. I saw the EMS people not being able to move with people on stretchers that had passed out from heat.

I'll never go back on a Saturday again, thats for damn sure.

Not surprised at all. Jazzfest used to be great.

I had a great time Thursday. But I really only go to Jazzfest if one of my favorite bands are playing.

I had a great time but I was outside of the gates drinking bloody marys 3 hours before they opened. Claimed a good spot with our tarp and chairs when they did open. There are places out there to setup camp that almost always give you an opportunity to escape out to the track and navigate around.

It was the most crowded I have ever seen it but if you've been going to Jazz Fest over the last few years you learn how to adapt and prepare for it.

I know people like to have fun but I don't understand the people that drink beer all day at something like that knowing they will have to fight ridiculously long lines later when they're about to piss all over themselves. I like to drink and have just as much fun as anybody but it just isn't worth it to me under those conditions.

It was insane. Luckily we got a spot for Elton John that somewhat had some room, but at one point EMS had to physically push people out the way to get an old man out who was pretty dehydrated. I had fun but that was the biggest crowd i've seen there, at every stage.

I learned my lesson last year for the second Saturday when Springsteen played. We got to the gates about an hour and fifteen minutes before the opened in order to get a good spot. Well, once in the door, we turned the corner for Acura and ended up right at the last spot of the infield. Could barely move to piss or restock on food or beer.

I usually stick with the weekdays and first Saturday or Sunday now.

Weird, I had an awesome time on Saturday and was posted in front of the Acura stage all day. Beer lines were the longest, but each person in my group took turns going and buying a case to lessen the trips. Bathroom lines were nonexistent so long as you didn't try for the first 5 on each side. I walked past lines of idiots just to get a wide open port-o-let 50 feet farther down.

Maybe I was just oblivious but Saturday was quite tolerable for us, coming from a person who typically hates large crowds. Left the Miller tent around 3, hit one bottleneck but was able to catch Jerry Lee Lewis finish up. Once he finished up the crowd loosened up a little and we moved forward. Ended up being almost center stage, less than 15ft from the barracade an hour before Elton started. I guess I went in expecting it to be a clusterfrick and a clusterfrick was what it was.

Saturday was indeed nuts. I saw about 5 or 6 people almost come to blows trying to move around. How one can be at an event that is that crowded and expect not to have personal space invaded is retarded. A paramedic cart had trouble making it around the track...it's a recipe for a lawsuit.

Elton put on a good show but Lenny"s on Sunday was a better time for me...

Nah. They need to move the thing already. It has far outgrown the fairgrounds and the fairgrounds is a shite venue anyway.

If you'd come around the rear of Acura through the first gate from the track stage right you wouldn't have any trouble getting very close to the stage. I went in and out before and during Elton with no problems.

On days like that when you know it's going to be packed it is what it is but knowing how to navigate your way around the fairgrounds will save you a ton of frustration.

I think they should charge people extra to bring in chairs or strollers and I think they should have daily tickets with a cap. But I doubt either of those will ever happen.

I can't imagine what it would have been like if they'd gotten the Stones.
