Agreed, the mayor has done a piss poor job with handling this situation. But Baltimore has always had poor race relations from what I remember.
Funny enough, the reporter on CNN just mentioned how this reminds him of the HBO show "The Wire".

Stats are always interesting because there's a stat for seemingly everything and with the right statistical test, a statistician could make a weak argument look strong.
Now I'm not saying that that stat is weak or false but I do wonder if that is just raw data or if it's actually been adjusted and controlled for more specific measures (age, socioeconomic status, location, education, etc) that may give a more vibrant / in depth analysis.
Personally, I'm not surprised by the stat. I do think the media plays up some of the police violence on minorities, but they are also reporting cops and their poor administration of law and order. Cops actions are contributing to the headline news and are giving them stories.
I don't know where those stats come from, but the there is no way for them to keep nationwide data on people killed by police at this time. Obviously, they are some kind of estimate, hence the unknown category. They have tried to keep stats on this and have found it impossible. Take any stats (from any side of the devate) you see on this with a grain of salt.

How, exactly, is it impossible to count the number of people killed by anything?
1, 2, 3, 4, ect. Not impossible

Blacks also commit significantly more crime per person, this leads to more chances of being killed by the cop. I seriously doubt cops are using any excuse they can to kill blacks, just for being black. Blacks kill each other at a significantly higher rate than any other race. I suppose that is whiteys fault as well?
let's say 10% of white people smoke marijuana, and 7% of black people smoke marijuana.
although, 12 white people get arrested for it, while 19 black people get arrested for it.
does this mean more black people commit crimes?

It's harder than you think, especially with certain municipalities that go to length to skew data in the direction of their benefits.

meanwhile on MSNBC, no mention of their kind burning an American city to the ground. I guess if you ignore it it never happened, right?

What the cops need to do is borrow that LRAD truck that was used in Ferguson and just wait until daylight and drive it through the city all day long making sure the these looters don't get any sleep.
