So I just got an estimate on some fencing and I need some honest advice...

I'm getting about 120 feet of 6' pine privacy fence and I just got quoted around $21.75/foot. Included in that are two gates. The quote is higher than that for cedar.
Am I crazy or does that seem somewhat high?

What did you think it would cost?

Build it yourself. It's not that difficult.

Much cheaper to do it yourself. It isn't hard at all

Metal posts? You should definitely get metal posts.

I'm not opposed to building it myself. But I've never tackled a project like this before in my life.

I just redid my fence(and my neighbor's,) in cedar and ran it for about $14/ft., if I were going to do more, and each neighbor that is next to the one I'm doing seems to want there's done, I'd shop for better material prices, the $14/ft. was for materials only, haven't figured out much I'll put in for labor for subsequent "neighbors" yet

That really doesnt sound too bad to me tbh. You could save a good bit by doing it yourself. It's really not that hard if you rent an auger and get a friend to help.

Galvanized pipe posts or wood?
Posted on 4/24/15 at 9:54 am to GFunk
That's absurdly high for 6' pine!

I wouldnt do a wooden fence in Louisiana. Unless you want to do it again in 6-7 years.

That would be a steal in Denver, it is over $30 a foot here. I couldn't believe how insanely high fencing is. I built a 15' section myself and it came out to about $14 a foot I think with screws, concrete, and lumber.

Oh, I dunno...that's a tough one...maybe less than $21.75/foot?

Wood posts with galvanized pipe for the gates.

I hadn't before I built mine. My ex's dad helped and I picked it up fast. It's not hard at all
