McHugh (2-0)
vs.
Walker (0-2)
Tic-tac-toe, four in a row.

Still not used to you guys being in the AL.

Oakland has a run differential of +27 compared to Houston's run differential of -4. Going to be tough to hold them off.

Doesn't matter, in first

McHugh (2-0)
I haven't checked out his BLOG in a while. He doesn't update it often. But his latest update (from January of this year) is pretty interesting. It also links a letter from Dwight Gooden that he wrote as and older Dwight directed to the younger Dwight (if he could go back in time).
Both are worth reading.
Probably my favorite from McHugh:
quote:
4) Fans will be fans, don't take it personally.
You will be cheered and booed. It's the fans' prerogative to do this at their pleasure, but you will take both very personally. The boos will make you sulk and the cheers, like drugs, will leave you groping for ever-increasing approval. Neither is healthy and neither makes any real difference to your career. Don't hold it against fans for expressing their opinions - they are 100% entitled to them. Also, don't go searching for those opinions via the Internet...which leads me to #5.

The sample sizes make the run differential numbers hard to use at this point. Oakland had two games where they destroyed Texas which is most of their differential. I still don't see them being a team that wins 90 games or anything, I could see 85 wins winning the west

Go get em Jabroni
ETA: for those of you who don't know why we call McHugh "Jabroni", here is the story.
McHugh was a waiver claim from somebody (maybe SD) and when we called him up last year to start his first game vs OAK, I started a DAT titled:
"DAT: Oakland @ Houston - Dan Straily 1-1 (0.00 ERA) vs. Some Jabroni from the waiver wire."
And then he turned out to be pretty damn good. But the nickname just stuck.

I saw McCullers is doing really well at AA as well along with Appel. I think it's safe to say Appel will be up sometime this year but I wonder if they would consider bringing McCullers up to at least pitch out of the pen at some point, like Chicago has done with Rodon
Posted on 4/21/15 at 3:26 pm to ShaneTheLegLechler
White Sox have already brought Rodon up?
Posted on 4/21/15 at 3:32 pm to ShaneTheLegLechler
McCullers has really flown under the radar of the past few years. A lot fans forget at one point he was a favorite to be the top pick in the draft. He could be a very dominant pitcher for the Astros and is far and away my favorite pitching prospect behind Appel.

Agreed. I think worst case he ends up being a really good reliever, still hoping he can become a solid starter

Well damn they didn't waste any time with him in the minors.
Yet we passed on him for Aiken because we were afraid Rodon may need tommy john in the future. Kind of ironic
At the time I thought Aiken was the right choice though.

Hindsight is 20/20; Rodon had his issues and he's still only thrown like 35 innings of pro ball. So who knows how he pans out. It would be nice to have him but it can't be judged until we see who we get with the extra pick this year and how that player turns out
If they do something like get Nathan Kirby and Dansby Swanson or even Rodgers and Kirby and you could get creative in the infield, I would be quite pleased
