I'm going to do about eight plants this year but want to optimize production.
What kind of soil mixture should I use?
How big does the pot have to be to do two plants per?
Nothing like some homegrown dermaters.

Are you growing pot or tomatos? Both want a slight acidic soil with a ph in the low 6s that will drain moderately well.

We have 1 tomato plant per 1 gallon Smart Pot.

I do one plant per pot. 10" or larger. Smaller pots make crappy maters.

I'm wondering if this should go on the OB (unless you're attempting a hydroponic solution?)

Depends on the variety and species.....heirloom needs a lot of room...aka indeterminate. Determinate is better for a pot....early girl....champion...

Most girls are indeterminate.

1 plant per pot 10 gallon pot is what I grow my pot maters in, determinate is best for containers but indeterminates can be grown too. Cage them not stake imo in pots. Even with bush varieties you'll still want to support them. If you're just transplanting now I'd suggest a heat tolerant variety

3 mater plants per 15 gallon pot. I use better boy maters. Go to a nursery and buy 1 4lb bag of ferdilome vegy and mater fertilizer, and 10 growth tabs. They will come n a brown paper bag. Go to lowes and buy a bag of black cow shite(yellow bag) and a bag of high dollar miricle grow. Go home mix it all up n wheel barrel, then fill up 15 gallon pot till its 6" from top of pot. Add 3 growth tabs every 5" from bottom of pot. Plant 3 mater plants 6" apart n circle. Build cage out of 3 metal t post and wire. Make it so u can pull pot out every year. U can use dirt for 4 years then buy new dirt.

I'd say mid to low 7s

Don't know anything about maters ph, but the other is low 6's. I prefer 6.2.
