This town can become a Pelicans town

Here's why:
Louisianans are fiercely loyal to anything they own. If this team goes on a nice 5 year run (AD re-signs and you add pieces) a la OKC you have the potential to see a real ground swell. And this is a convention town. AD becomes a top 2-3 player in the league who wouldn't want to catch a Pels game while they're in town. Tons of upside here. Unfortunately no draft pick this year in a well stocked draft but that was done for current success.

You couldn't drive 1/2 mile in this city during the '07-'08 season without a business having a Geaux Hornets or something similar on their billboards.
It's there. Just gotta show consistent winning.

Zero chance.
The Saint are always gonna be THE team.

Would be hard for AD to become as big as Brees in Nola, but he's going to be the bigger star on the global and national level by far. With winning more fans will come, and the Pels become a bigger draw for casual basketball fans as well. If they continue to build around AD, New Orleans is going to have another championship team.

no one is saying the Pels will be #1 in the city

No one is talking about supplanting the Saints or Brees. I'm talking about being part of the conversation. When you think Boston you think Sox, Patriots and Celtics.

And I completely agree with that. Look at how awesome that Spurs game was last night, look at the Lakers series, the 07-08 season. The fans can definitely get behind this team. We saw a big leap forward this year.

This.
I live in BR and in my opinion, BR is a bandwagon city. We've had Laker fans everywhere at one time which turned into Heat fans who are now Cleveland fans. Within the last couple of weeks, I'm starting to see plenty of Pelicans apparel and I'm even seeing the Pels on our digital billboards very often. We're getting there.
The playoffs will give this franchise the exposure to get plenty of people in our region on board.

That doesn't mean the Pels can't be a major draw in Nola. Last night showed that they are gaining traction.

Getting AD to resign will be very tough.

You act like there has never been a city with two supported teams. Toronto is supposedly an awesome NBA town these days, and they have NHL to compete with. And their seasons match up!!! Same with the Boston example earlier. Is Boston a Celtics city or a Patriots city? It's fricking both.

That terminology is usually used to describe the top dog in town.
