That guy showed some serious restraint by not dropping a couple rounds into those kids. If they came after me like that and my 3 month old was around there would be bodies on the ground.

this happened to one of our technicians at a gas station in Shreveport
a group of about 15 10-12 year olds got right off the bus and walked right over to him and robbed him in the middle of the day, they all had knives
no one else at the gas station did anything, they all just watched

This boards obsession with some of the more uncivil acts of the lower class urban poor is beyond a fetish. There are plenty of uncivil acts that the majority participates in daily that hardly get mentioned here. You wot hear a peep from about "cultural pathology" in those cases either.
It's hard to say things have changed as much as they have when this fetish of yalls seems eerily similar to the fetishes seen in the reconstruction/post civil war/pre and post Jim Crow south.

I have a decent amount of restraint for my kids except in situations like this. They KNOW they better not ever have to face me after doing something stupid because others are doing it.
Bottom line is, it starts at home, period. I will destroy one of mine if they ever participate in this type of behavior towards another person.
