Im not butthurt. And you don't really need to tell me that.

You could be more calculated in your arguments though. That'll come with time i guess

Yeah. Apparenty, I just need to blow every player. That seems to be the norm here.

"I've wanted to hand Kawhi the keys on offense all year"

He's about to go for 50 tonight and make us look like idiots.

Please tell me that y'all don't think Trevor Ariza and Kawhi are even close to being the same quality of player.

not me. As the great Ghazi once said, no team that starts Trevor Ariza will ever win an NBA title.

It's funny because the Lakers did it.

And no. Kawhi is way better than Ariza ever was, but like Ariza in LA, he is in a great place to shine. Awesome team, coach, players, everything. Kawhi is in the perfect situation right now. Any other team he could end up on assuming he wants to be paid big tiime will not even be close.

I don't know about that. Maybe he wouldn't be as great offensively, but that guy is a defensive animal. Right now he's playing the best defense out of anybody in the NBA. I think that's partially a system thing, but also a lot of it is his individual talent.

Comparing the reigning finals mvp to Ariza.

It's definitely partially a system thing. Pop can completely build around a player's strengths. If Leonard was playing with Byron Scott, he'd be so wasted. Coaching is a variable that is really hard to adjust for. At the end of the day, we will never be sure about lots of comparisons in sports.

Using your same logic, do you think Tim Duncan would have still been one of the greatest players ever had he played elsewhere?

Comparing Byron Scott to Pop is like comparing Bob Sacre to Tim Duncan

Scott could waste anybody's talent. Ed Davis has been the best big man on that team all year and he hardly plays. I think Kawhi would do really well in a lot of systems because he is a great player, but he probably does succeed a little bit more in Pop's. I get that.

I've had this exact conversation on here before. I rate Greg Popovich super highly. I basically think he's the best coach ever. Yes. I have him ahead of Phil. I think he has done amazing things with less talent than Phil. I think the way Pop has handled Duncan's career has been outstanding, and lots of players didn't get the opportunity that Duncan did. I'm not ready to say that Garnett is better than Duncan, but if you completely swapped the two players and had KG play in San Antonio for his career, I think people would consider KG to be better than Duncan.

The point is the same as always...if you are one of the best offensive players in the league...generally considered a superstar. One of the best defenders...you are "overrated". That's a typical fan perspective for you.

Thinking Kawhi is overrated means you haven't seen his defense against stars. It's understandable that a novice fan doesn't see him fill up the stat sheet and assumes he hasn't done his role.

His offensive skill set has taken off lately. I'm also wondering how many points he prevents when defending guys like Curry or Westbrook.

It's par for the course for a Spurs player to be the subject of this conversation.
