So they are better when one of their best players is playing? That's crazy. Also has nothing to do with what you posted earlier.

Well Simmons and Lowe are referring to him as a top 10 player lately so of course overrating is coming into play. However, I see him as a top 20 guy and a better player than Andrew Wiggins will ever be.
Damn, idk about all that...

You were the one who mentioned Parker. And I said they have been playing better since he has been playing well. The Spurs ride with Parker. Kawhi is a nice role player, but he hasn't carried this team.

I think Kawhi is a Top 20/25 player. I just don't think he is a future superstar like many claim.

Your first post is the first time Parker was mentioned. And you implied that Parker made Kawhi look better than he is.

You said Parker isn't the same this year, which basically means you haven't paid attention for two months. The Spurs had been a below average team before he stepped up, so during the time that Kawhi has supposedly been carrying the load they haven't even been that good.

Show me this part.

I was simply saying that Parker was underrated because he played for the Spurs. Now I think people are afraid to underrate a young Spur, so they are overrating one.

They were below average as the 7th seed out west with like a .60 win percentage?

Dude. The Spurs weren't the Spurs we know. Any Spurs fan would agree. You are just arguing to argue.

Go read your first post. Parker's awesomeness caused us to overrate leonard and the spurs young players. And they were garbage until February when Parker started to play well.

I'm saying that when people realized later that they missed his prime, they were afraid to do it with the next young player. I'm not saying that him playing well is what makes Kawhi play well. If Parker wasn't on the team, I would still say that him being so underrated for so long has the media afraid to underrate another Spurs player.

You are so mad at me for not being in love with Kawhi that you can't even understand my posts.

You called the spurs a below average team. Not by their standards, a below average team.

Holy shite dude. Fine. Change it to that. It's not even what I'm trying to argue. You are seriously nitpicking so hard.

I don't think it's such an outlandish statement, but maybe I'm overrating him. Leonard, as of yesterday, is being compared to Scottie Pippen. I'm not sold that Wiggins will ever reach that level.

Leonard has the coaching and development advantage.Pop and the Spurs vs. Flip and 'Sota...but this is a whole other topic.

I've never even seen you post in an NBA Thread. I'm arguing with someone who watched Kawhi win a Finals MVP and never watched anything else.

Ohmygerd he's amazing!

My argument is simple. Let me lay it out for you.

1. The Spurs have had a young star be very underrated in the past because his numbers didn't look right in the Spurs system (Tony Parker).

2. Kawhi Leonard is a young player who plays an important role for the Spurs.

3. I don't believe he could dominate at a bigger role like many others do. I think the Spurs make him look great. It's a mutually beneficial relationship.

4. It is not unheard of for the media to fall in love with role players on championship teams only to see them be far less successful in different environments (Ariza, Perkins, Cavs players, etc.)

5. I think Kawhi is a great player, but he isn't a max contract player that you build a team around. His increase in usage/scoring/rebounding this year couldn't even make up for Parker playing badly. In fact, the Spurs were worse than we've seen them in years. Suddenly, when Parker started playing well, they didn't just improve a little, but they became one of the best teams in the league.

Plenty of players for Cleveland round 1

...You can't be seriously comparing Leonard's role with the Spurs this season to those players. I'm having a hard time even composing a response to this shite

Leonard is third on the team in USG% at 23.0 which is closely in line with other "solid role players" like KG (Celtics) and Paul Millsap (Jazz).

It's laughable to even suggest that Leonard and Ariza are on the same tier defensively. They both pass the eye test but Leonard's -5.7 ON/OFF net Drtg is comparable to the absolutely elite amongst all-time perimeter defenders. Ariza's best season doesn't even come close and this year he has just barely had a discernible impact.

Leonard is, at worst, a top 20 player in the league.
