Probably works for the Oakland Raiders

This should not surprise anyone we all know he is a work out warrior. Looks like Tarzan plays like Jane.

DE's vs DTQBs in the shotgun also have the added responsibility of reading the QB, and cannot just drop back in coverage or blitz.

On certain plays, yes. That being said, NFL DE's are constantly tasked with setting the edge, checking for screens, and also making sure they aren't being trapped or having the draw play run at their expense.

The top 5 was in reference to the fact that he was 3rd in the SEC amongst DL in tackles....so maybe I should have said top 5 in production

He won't be held back by the likes of Brick and Chavis in the NFL.

He ran a 4.55 40 at Pro Day if I recall correctly. To say he can't stay with RBs and TEs on pass routes as an OLB is incorrect from a pure speed and quickness perspective. Now, assignment instincts and reaction time may be another question, but that is where he can be coached up. I really think he has the chance to make some noise in the NFL.

I agree he can do well in the right system.

From a Pats scouting report:

quote:

Negatives: My main concern is his get off at the snap. For some reason he is consistently a half step slower than everyone else when the ball is snapped and seems to lack burst in his first step. Another concern is that he plays high at times, which does not show up all the time on tape but is something he will want to work on. Finally, he hasn’t had a ton of playing experience until this year so he is a bit raw.

Miserable people who only watch the football and only want to see sacks and INTs. They have no idea on scheming, and think that they do because they know he difference in a 3-4 and a 4-3 because they played Madden.

That's it. Didn't compare them at all actually.

quote:

Hunter had 73 tackles, 3rd in the SEC out of DL, had 13.5TFL, 9th in the SEC and more than Bud Dupree who is considered a 1st round prospect, and he had 6 passes defended, more than some DBs which is ridiculous considering he was a 4-3 DE.

you didnt compare them?

Exactly what I mentioned in my post. As athletic as he is, he just doesn't anticipate the snap well enough to put pressure on a QB. Not sure that can be coached.

Hunter was also reported to have been limited to setting the edge and containment by Chavis which didn't allow him to attack the QB

He often did that VERY poorly.

I am not trying to be critical. But, he did not rush the passer well or play contain well. The 73 tackles and 6 PBUs are very impressive, though.

Hope he goes very high.

He needs to "wow" on offensive tackle and/or tight end.

Poster that say Hunter wasnt productive this last season dont know football. Only 6 dlinemen in all of cfb had more tackles. Thats production.

73 tackles,1.5 sacks,and 13.5 tfls is far better than 30 tackles 11 sacks and 6tfls.
A dlineman making 6 tackles a game by the line is better than getting 1 sack a game. Now you would love to be able to get both but that makes you a great player and Hunter wasnt great, but he was very productive his final year at lsu.
