Why do we play at Turchin Stadium?

Tulane makes it very difficult for LSU fans to get tickets. They mostly use them as bait for their season ticket holders. Since the stadium is so small, the game sells out quickly. Why not play at Zephyr Stadium? 15,000 people could attend and everyone, including Tulane, could make more money. I know they don't want the stands packed with purple and gold, but otherwise it makes sense. If they want to play in New Orleans (which I am all for), shouldn't LSU be in a position to demand that the game be played at Zephyr Stadium? If Tulane agrees everyone can enjoy the game in a AAA stadium with actual parking spaces. If Tulane declines, tell them to go ............

Because it's Tulane's home field?

15,000 people could attend
Second, Tulane can make more charging $30/ticket plus parking plus concessions (which will also be jacked) than having to pay the Zephyrs for their park and not getting any of the concessions or parking take. It's that simple.
ETA: Remember this is a tuesday night and not the WPC. You wouldn't get 4k people at Zephyr.

I agree 100%. I'd cancel the series or only have them come to LSU. It's ridiculous.

I can see how it is annoying but it's not like LSU doesnt do the same thing.

If this were football I would agree, but this is just one game out of 50+. This one game is fine with me although a whole series at their place would be pushing it.

Why not play on your own field when it's as good as any other field? I didn't hear griping about playing Southern at their place last week. And thank Ron Maestri and the Zephyrs for raping Tulane after Katrina, Tulane won't play in that park again because of it.

This is pretty obnoxious. They should get to play their home game where they want.
Besides, winning road games helps a lot more than winning neutral games. This is college and playing in their stadium is a lot better than playing at the Shrine on Airline.

I don't think Southern was raising their ticket prices for away fans to $30 though.
eta: Wasn't it a few years ago that they made you donate to their athletic fund?

LSU fans have a bad reputation for whining about shite like this

I'm fine with LSU playing a road game at Tulane. It's a meaningless mid-week game after-all. How Tulane handles pricing during that game is their own business.

The reason we play at Turchin Stadium and willingly go along with Tulane using the game for fundraising is that we want to help other Louisiana programs develop and sustain good baseball programs, which furthers the youth development in baseball, which produces more good baseball programs and a higher level of play, which helps LSU.
Skip Bertman taught us this very lesson. He was right. He is still right.
Now, shut the hell up and write the check.

LSU tripled the price for the Kentucky basketball game. Bama football tickets cost more.
