He's a 3 year old Boston Terrier that is a rescue I have had for 2 months. When I took him to the dog park at lunch today and after work he was grazing like a damn cow. He has been tested for heart worms when I first got him and he was heart worm negative. This is the first time he has done this. Any reason why he is doing this? He's a great dog that is housebroken and crate trained

In my novice experience animals do it for digestive reasons.

From the book of immortal quotes from pawpaw:
Toddler downshift: "pawpaw, why do dogs eat grass?"
Pawpaw: "because they like it"

It means his stomach is upset. Usually when they do this, they end up vomiting somewhere, at least my experience.

He's a dog. Maybe he was hungry. Just tell him to stop. Some think it means he wants to throw up, but that's not true.

I have a greyhound that does the same thing. been having it for 7 years and has always grazed. no problems have become of it. vomited grass on a few occasions but that's about it

It's a salad for dogs, it's very natural. Your dog feels the need to cleanse.

That means it's about to rain.

I've had dogs that did it, never caused any problems
I've heard it helps their digestion
IIRC Henry Ford ate grass sandwiches
I don't know what he fed his dogs

Had same problem with our dog. Add a spoonful of canned pumpkin to the dogs food it will help with digestion

There's some sort of agent in grass that soothes an aching/nauseous stomach. Might try it myself one day.
No biggie.

Vet told us our corgi did it because she was bored.
Vomiting and Fiber also two reasons

If he's ripping it up in great chunks non-stop, upset stomach, and he will puke it all up later. I had to watch my dog carefully when he would go into this mode, as he would bite at plant material indiscriminately. Indoors, left to his own, he'd strip leaves off houseplants and bite chunks out of rubber tree leaves, which are poisonous. Outside, if you have sago palms, watch him around those. All parts are poisonous, especially the seeds, and they do kill dogs.
After several episodes of this, I started leashing him and sitting with him or crating him. I'd squirt some pepto in his mouth or give him a Tums. He'd get over it in an hour or two.
