OK, so I guess that there might be other gems out there that have gone completely undiscovered by me. I recently--just last week--discovered Ryan Adams. A few days ago, I discovered a song called "Elephant." It was beautiful, deep, and shocking. I went to Rhapsody to find out who this Jason Isbell is...and I was mesmerized. Much like Adams, I didn't find a bad song, yet I discovered 25+ new favorites. He is simply that good.
Thoughts? Opinions? Any other artist suggestions?
For those of you who have not heard Mr. Isbell, here is a great sample.

If you like those two then listen to Sturgill Simpson.

John Moreland is another good suggestion, he is more country than Isbell, though
Are you a Ryan Bingham fan? If not, check out his latest album Fear and Saturday Night or what I feel is his best, Mescalito.

If you like Isbell, get John Moreland's In the Throes album. Best album of last year IMO. Better than Isbells Southeastern

I have only listened to one album by them but love it...
Assembly of Dust - Some Assembly required
Description of album off of the band's website:
Each of AOD's songs on this album are realized with an ace band and a diverse collection of collaborators including Béla Fleck, David Grisman, John Scofield, Mike Gordon, and Martin Sexton. Highlights include: opener “All That I am Now,” with Genauer trading verses with Richie Havens over a galloping, insistent beat and swirls of psychedelic guitar, the “Strawberry Fields”-esque “Arc of the Sun,” the aching beauty of “Light Blue Lover” with Genauer backed by the supple harmonies of Grace Potter and guitar work of Tony Rice, and the country shuffle of “Leadbelly,” enhanced by the masterful pedal steel of Jerry Douglas.

Saw Jason Isbell for the first time last year at Saxon Pub in Austin. Great vocals and a good songwriter.
