Why do you want a gun?

Don't bring a fricking gun on your Hawaiian vacation. The worst that will happen is some petty thieves will steal shite out of your rental Mustang. Just don't leave valuable shite on the seats. You're not going to get into a Reservoir Dogs situation, as hard as that idea may make your little penis.

Apparently they pretty much leave you alone as long as you're not hitting on the local girls.
been to HI over 150 times, have yet to have anything even approaching trouble, much less the need for a gat

Not sure where you got the idea that Hawaii is some gangland.

She's been before and told me about how poor the locals are and how much they hate tourists.
I didn't know how bad it was and just wanted to be safe.
However, it seems like quite the production and is probably not the best idea

I say leave the gun boosie, and if you are accosted by ne'er do wells, simply kill them with kindness.

Might be something you want to look into then. I brought mine to florida so I checked the laws in every state I had to drive through.
Bama was the only one with that issue.
I wasn't 100% correct but I was close..

If you don’t have a concealed weapons permit, you may have a gun in your car if it is unloaded and locked in a compartment or container in the vehicle and out of reach from the driver or any passenger in the vehicle

I know an FBI agent who checks his service weapon with his bags when he goes on backpacking trips. He has to arrive at the airport about 2 hours before anyone else due to the paperwork hassle involved.

Honolulu is kind of a big filthy city, some bad-ish areas

I'm gonna stab them in the eyeball with my mediocre penis.
I think the OT has talked me out of my ill-advised plan.

Still, leave the gun at home....if anyone hates you because you're white....they're just mad at life. Its an aloha culture....it's generally a peaceful place....just don't start walking around like you own the place. You won't be hated.

What do you reckon the violent crime rate is against tourists from the mainland?
Posted on 3/19/15 at 12:45 pm to boosiebadazz
You aren't going to need a gun in Hawaii.
It's kind of like New Orleans... Mostly local on local crime.
My Godparents live there and their kids got razzed a little in high school - but not bullied by any means.
I've been several times and nobody's going to frick with you.
ETA:
^^^ What YA said. You'll be fine.

TX has something similar, weapon and ammo must be more than an arms length apart if in passenger compartment, unless they've recently changed it, lots of gun law changes being proposed right now

Well don't let these idiots fool you, it's good that you were thinking ahead to protect yourself. Every state in the union has dangerous pockets, and the fact that you wanted to protect yourself and your mom is admirable. The fact that you investigated it, weighed the pros and cons, then made an informed decision is admirable.
