Why bother with all the bullshite of bringing a gun if you're gonna have to leave it unloaded and cased? It's not going to help you out in an emergency.
Not to mention most condos/ vacation rental places don't allow firearms.
I wouldn't mess with it. Too much of a hassle between dealing with TSA, the state of Hawaii, etc. for something you likely won't need.

If I remember right for texas, if you can prove you are traveling from another state or something along those lines, you can have a loaded gun as long as it's not concealed in the vehicle. I looked into it when going to houston for the LSU game and it's some loophole along those lines. Unless my state trooper friend was talking out of his arse

Just the opposite, in the state of Texas you can have a loaded hand gun in your car, but it must be concealed, rifles and shotguns do not have to be concealed. The statue is the same for resident are non residents of the state.

Conceal carry permit?
Better check if Hawaii's is reciprocal. You may have to have CCL specifically from Hawaii.

You need to get out of the South. You think you'll need a piece on Kuai?

Boosie. Just giving you my honest advice. I go to Kauai every other summer and know the place top to bottom. There is absolutely no need for a gun in Kauai. The locals you will be in contact with all work in the restaurants, shops, stores etc. and they pander to tourists very well. They know who butters their bread. It is paradise man! Just chill and enjoy so e of the most beautiful scenery on earth.
The only place I have ever felt remotely uncomfortable on Kauai is when I was sightseeing (cruising around in a converable) up on Olehana Rd. In Kapa'a Town. Most locals communities are located up in the hills about 3-5 miles inland from the coastal Hwy.. Olehana Rd. Starts in Kapa'a Town and goes north into the hills where all the S/Ds are located. If you go up that way....just stay on Olehana Rd.. The countryside is beautiful up there. Just avoid turning into any of the communities along that road. The locals up there will yell obscenities at you just for driving into their communities. Never gave them the chance to physically threaten me because I never exited my vehicle.
But if you are only going for a week, you probably won't even drive up there to begin with. We only did on our 5th trip there just to kill some time one afternoon. Even if you do, you certainly won't need a gun unless you or Heather have intentions on starting trouble.
Leave the gun my man. I would pack going to Seaside, Fl before Kauai.

Cool. Thanks for the information. My mom did her Eat, Pray, Love shite up there for two summers, so she knows her way around. My brother and I will be with her and no one ever really fricks with us, but I just didn't know how aggressive the locals were.
Appreciate the insight, though![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/Iconcheers.gif)

Anyone visiting Hawaii so they can experience urban Honolulu is doing it wrong. In the worst possible way.

Any badass worth his salt wouldn't need to bring weapons with him. He would already have buddies from his special forces and/or CIA days that are now arms dealers there ready to supply him.

You're a fricking idiot if you bring a firearm to Hawaii.
