Farthest You Have Been Offshore In Bay Boat

A friend of mine in on the Florida Panhandle recently took a 24 foot pathfinder about 40 miles offshore - which seems crazy to me.
Thought this might be a good OB question - what is the farthest you have been offshore in a bay boat, where and what brand/size of boat.

40 seems a bit much IMO. Although if it is a truly blue bird day with slick calm seas your fuel tank is you only real limit.

I don't think it's that crazy in a deep V on a slick calm day
Farthest I've been in a bay boat was around 15 miles in Florida but we've seen tiny boats at rigs snapper/AJ/grouper fishing on our way back in from tuna fishing

On the west side of the state you have to make long runs to find deep water.
I may be pulling this number out of my arse, but I think 50 miles is the norm to catch snapper and AJ's leaving out of the ship channel in Hackberry.

An apparent pristine day. They had an epirb, spot locator, etc. They went past The Edge. Not for me, but apparently, not that far outside of the norm for the Panhandle from what they say.

I can't remember exactly but, last year I think we got out to about 23-25 miles and caught snapper.

I've been about 15 miles in a single engine 22' Boston Whaler. Everything else has been in a dedicated offshore boat.
I've watched a guy go out to West Delta during the Tarpon rodeo in a 17' Boston Whaler by himself. Other boats were in the area, but still crazy to me. Dude ended up catching the a Tarpon by himself.

Midnight lump out of Venice, so about 25 miles out of tiger pass.

15 miles. An old sailor once told me I rather be here wishing I was out there, then out there wishing I was here.

Not me, but I had a 24' boat tie up to us at a can, about 100 miles out (before DP). I felt sorry for them and asked if they wanted to come on board and get some AC. They declined and slept on deck until I untied them in the morning, before fishing. Crazy bastards.

Was out at the lump and had a big Carolina Skiff with a 70 or 90hp tiller come rolling up. That was some shite.

I've been 22 miles up the California coast in my 18' Polar CC.
And I've been 40 miles out in my buddy's 19' Sea Arima chasing albacore.
Can't say that I was ever really nervous.
