State Schools vs. Ivy League

I'll start the debate with this..
Roughly 90% of Harvard graduates are getting degrees with straight A's. Hmm. Sounds legit.
I've met Ivy league-rs that are surely less than genius.
What say the witty minds of The OT?

i turned down ivy to go to LSU, which is a likely repeated theme by teh OT's finest
grade inflation was a hot topic in 2007

They study the same shite for the most part. It's all prestige

Ivy Leaguers are smart bro.

the name on the sheepskin(given no other connection,) gets you in the door, after that it's all up to you

How many Ivy League schools have good football teams though?

All about prestige and networking.
And this may be true but I'd say that the average Ivy League graduate is smarter than avg state school graduate.

oversimplification I know, but I know a Harvard educated AF flight surgeon that was dying to go to flight training, he did, and he showed up one day as my flight engineer(at the airline,) it was a kind of a wow moment, but he loves it and has a practice on the side

The top at any school are comparable but the best schools have much deeper benches. He average intelligence at Harvard is much brighter than at LSU as one would expect.

I wanted to say something like this but couldn't type it up #LSUGRAD

I've heard classes there are fairy easy. Lots of non traditional methods, etc.

This should conclude the thread but probably won't.
Post it again on page 43.

I did know a guy who apparently turned down brown to go to lsu. Haha.... idiot.
But, I do believe the school you went to us a small part of your value. I know Stanford, gt, MIT grads. And although none of them are a let down, they don't blow the LSU engineers I went to school with out of the water like you think they would.

completely agree with the first part, the second is partly true as well because of certain, ahem, loopholes, but I'd bet there are quite a few kids strolling the quad that would do just fine at any Ivy league school and are at LSU by choice, finances or "other"

I heard a Harvard grad say that the hardest part was getting in.

There's Harvard/Yale/Princeton, and there's everything else.
