OM v. USCe who to root for?

I assume that we need to root for South Carolina in this one since OM is shown as a "last 4 byes" team like LSU. I know all that really matters is the game tomorrow, but do you think an Ole Miss loss helps, hurts, or has no effect on LSU' s NCAA tourney position?

Definitely root for Carolina

Don't care.
Wouldn't root for ole miss if it meant we wouldn't get in if they lost.

Never root for Ole Miss.

drizz, did you just hear that shite on ESPN? Apparently Arkansas is most likely to "give Kentucky a game" in the SECT.
Not the team that lost to UK by 2
Not the team that just BEAT Arkansas without a star player
No....Instead, its the team that already lost by SEVENTEEN to UK.

Doesn't matter too much... I'm pulling for South Carolina though.

That matchup (UK/ARK) wouldn't happen until the finals anyway.

This is a boring arse game.
USCe has controlled UM and still can't gain a substantial lead. UM is just sucking.

Ole Miss. Right now LSU has 5 top 50 RPI wins. Two of those are over Ole Miss. What looks better on selection Sunday?
3-2 vs top 50 or
5-2 vs top 50?
3-2 vs top 50 or
5-2 vs top 50?

If Ole Miss loses, they are SO bubble-ish it helps LSU. Seriously.

Halftime USCe 27, UM 24.
UM will win this game IMO when Moody/Summers take over in 2nd half. That said, UM is 3-7 v. Top 50 RPI. If they lose, LSU will be 3-2 v. Top 50 RPI with a sweep over Ole Miss - not that they'll be head to head for NCAAT.

I don't think you understand how all of this works. LSU's SOS sucks. That's a big part of why despite some good wins, LSU's RPI is still relatively low. The best thing LSU has going for it is that the have beaten several good teams. It doesn't help the overall resume if the RPI of one of those good teams starts plummeting. The 2 wins against a top 50 Ole Miss really helps LSU's case.

Is it that big a difference of Ole Miss ends the season with a 48 RPI as opposed to say 53?
Not arguing, serious question.

I understand SoS. I also understand Ole Miss RPI is below LSU's, btw. Do you?
I will say point blank that an Ole Miss loss tonight hurts them more than an LSU loss tomorrow. But whatever you choose to believe is fine with me.

Maybe. It depends on each committee member. Remember, there is a lot of subjectivity in the selections. The "team sheets" that NCAA distribute has records against several groups: 1-50, 51-100, 101-150, etc. obviously the record against the top 50 is more meaningful than a team's record vs 51-100.

It helps LSU if they were ONLY being compared to Ole Miss. However, LSU's resume will be compared to every team on the bubble, not just Ole Miss.
With Ole Miss in the top 50 LSU has 5 wins vs that group. An Ole Miss loss means LSU will only have 3 wins vs that group. Compare that to a team like Purdue who has 4 wins vs the top 50. With 5 top 50 wins LSU has a better argument point than Purdue. With only 3 top 50 wins that argument loses some strength

I'd rather USC win for LSU's chances. That would put another bubble team behind LSU regardless of what LSU does in the tournament. Rooting for Oklahoma over Ok St., Notre Dame over Miami, USC over Ole Miss, and Butler over Xavier (doesn't matter much) right now.
