11-16, 12-15, 12-17, 10-20. Last four years with brown at the helm. They should have released him after the 89 season.

he is one of the most charismatic, loyal, and smart persons that you would ever meet, interesting man, the NCAA was on a constant witch hunt because he stood up to them, and anyone else, loyal to the death if you were in his inner circle of trust, also a kind and philanthropic man
I've experienced first hand all of this stated above and much more and I didn't even make the team... It has been ongoing for 30+ years. He is the most amazing person I've ever known. It's rare to find someone with that much fight and that much humility all in the same person.
If you know him he makes you better.

If an LSU football coach goes 8-4 there are a ton of people on this site that want him fired. My point is he had some very bad years in tiger town.

He was the coach through 1997, not 1994, you jabronie.

Jaboronie ouch that hurt. He's a good guy. Not debating that. Had some horrible years that really overshadowed his achievements. Including the Lester Earl scandal.

What? He recruited Shaq, Stanley, Mo,etc..after 1989, regardless of players leaving early, or limited runs with a young team.
The Geert, Gipson, Owens, 1994 team continuing the NCAA tourney streak after Shaq's departure, was an excellent season, and adjusting on the fly.

The greatest team ever assembled in b rouge and they underachieved more than any team I've ever seen.

Great recruiter, good motivator, flawed but decent human and LOUSY gameday coach. Can never forgive the Kentucky comeback.

didn't a Miles coached team blow something like a 28 point lead against Tennessee in the Katrina game?

Jesus man, they were all young and green, and had one season together, in an age where the best teams were full of 20, 21, and 22 yr old ballers. Sure, they blew a 21-3 game start to Cremins Jackets costing a Final Four berth..
But, you and other revisionists act as if they were together for four years, and flopped.
P.S. The 1978, 1979 and 1980 LSU Mens Tigers were the greatest teams in LSU history..they lost to the eventual national champs. I guess they were bums too in your book..letting Magic, Dr Dunkenstein, and Isiah get over on them.
Dale the NCAA antagonist constantly found LSU in the #1 team in the country's bracket, costing quite a few more Final Four berths.

Of all the ridiculous things typed on this board...and the list is long and distinguished...this it Top 10.
In that regard, well done!

Thank you thank you very much. My old age had the wrong year. Thanks for catching the typo. The biggest underachieving year in the history of LSU sports came the following year.

there's more to it than that, something along the lines of doing more with less, different era, different budget, and a stifling, short sided, nepotistic AD and BoS to deal with, Dale deserves his props in LSU history

but based on your post in this thread we can only remember the bad seasons.......right?

Never said he didn't have good years, however he had some horrible years also. Those last four years were some of the worst basketball games I've ever witnessed.

Peace out. About to purchase tickets to see LSU in November in the Legend's Classic in brooklyn. Would love to finish this debate with some real tiger fans in New York.

You made it sound like the typo was the issue...it wasn't, unless you're being a typical LSU fan and suggesting Brown should have been fired after CJ's sophomore year after the 89'-90 season instead of '88-'89. Both suggestions are idiotic.
Please tell me you are not suggesting LSU should have fired Brown after the conclusion of the CJ era in the spring of 1990, with Shaq coming back as a sophomore in 90-91?
You're not...are you?
