he is one of the most charismatic, loyal, and smart persons that you would ever meet, interesting man, the NCAA was on a constant witch hunt because he stood up to them, and anyone else, loyal to the death if you were in his inner circle of trust, also a kind and philanthropic man

Haven't read yet but intend to. I first me Coach Brown in 1973 at the La State basketball tourney, known back then as the Top Twenty, in Alexandria. He was visiting with another coaching friend of mine and we visited, mostly talking high school basketball and how excited he was to be recruiting the state. Little did I know that day the man would become a legend, eventually finding himself in the HoF. Over the years I ran into him on several social occasions as well as basketball venues and I agree with all those who call Dale a kind, humble and philanthropic soul. I can tell you this, he has a special affinity for those who are less gifted mentally than the average person. His charity and generosity are seemingly boundless. Here's to Daddy Dale, one more time.

As much good as he did for the program he also hurt in the later years. Those first couple years john Brady had horrific squads due to scholarship sanctions imposed from Dale Brown. He was a great motivator, however an average coach. That 1990 team was the biggest underachieving team in the history of LSU basketball

Dale and his buddy Tark were the NCAA's #1 and #1-A in no set order as their targets to take down..

They were too outspoken of the 'Gestapo Bastards'

John Brady's sweet 16 team of Stromile, Jabari and company aling with the final four team led by Tyrus and big baby had nothing to do with dale Brown. The teams in the first few Brady years were left in shambles because of those last year's that brown was at the helm.

No, you can't serious. How old are you? For any of Dale's transgressions in staying too long, or not being the greatest X&O guy, he built a mountain out of a molehill(Rabenhorst title and Pistol Pete,etc..aside). LSU went to two Final Fours in six years, and was hosed by the refs and some missed FTs from going to 3 FFs in 7 years.

Dale got a standing ovation from Kentucky fans, he was Joe B Hall's greatest SEC challenge, they realized what a fantastic job he did in building up LSU. His 1980 team was Vegas co-chalk heading into Philly despite Rudy's broken finger, his NCAA tourney berth streak had LSU considered a national hoops name brand. Nolan Richardson respected him, despite owning him and stealing his SEC West thunder during their overlapping years.

All the while doing so in an era where LSU's Athletic Dept and AD were cheapskates of the first order. All the while as some of LSU's BOS using LSU Athletics as a means to earn than as first-rate programs and school.

Despite most HCs truly caring for their players after their playing careers, how many of them have the rapport and continuing follow-up that Dale has maintained with his former ballers?

John Brady knew what the sanction were when he was hired.

without dale brown, lsu is auburn basketball level. The man won 448 games at LSU, 3rd highest in sec history at this point behind Rupp and donovan

Right.....like in 1994 when dale brown let a 30 point lead over Kentucky become a loss. Unbelievable. Kentucky laughed their way out the gym that night.

We recruited Louis also in hopes to get Lester. Louis couldn't start at st Augustine. Yes they were brothers.
