My ford doesn't have a gas cap.
Lately I ball up a pair of gloves that I keep in my truck. I've used a water bottle, beer can, pair of socks, a nail, a pen, pretty much anything I can find.

It pumps faster if you hold it down all the way versus using the lever, so I hold it anyway.

You just have to ground yourself before you touch it. Touch your car door, or anything of metal on your car before grabbing the pump handle and you'll discharge whatever static electricity you built up.

I keep hand sanitizer in my door nonetheless.
Get help. If you think your going to get something from a gas pump handle, your germophobia is a real problem. Seriously, get help.

Everyone with a 2011 and newer F150!
Times 10 on the electrical tape or one of those little blue oval led flashlights from harbor freight works perfect. I have also used a piece of velcro I found somewhere.

I usually just stick my taser or Zippo in there. A strike anywhere match will also work.
