In base running, no doubt. Hitting is tough to pinpoint. You have a much more experienced lineup, new baseballs, and a pretty easy schedule. The approach at the plate hasn't been much different.

Won't really know until they're facing quality SEC pitching three games a week.

this. The aggressiveness in stealing bases is a direct result of Canni. The success in stealing bases is in part a result of the ridiculous speed on this team and in part the technique learned from the new coach combined with said aggressiveness. The rest of the stats are a result of a deep, experienced lineup.

Should have fired Javi years ago

They are definitely a lot more aggressive.
SEC play may restrict that a little.

Didnt we lead the SEC in hits multiple years with Javi? Stats sure werent allowed to back him up on here

They are definitely a lot more aggressive.
Except Chinea. Kid swings at everything.

Stevie swings at some bad pitches too.

Zardon caught that bug this weekend as well.

I think the big increase in straight steals has influenced bunting more than anything.

When you consider that Cannizaro has never been a hitting coach before, it's difficult to give him too much credit at this point. We saw some decent arms this past wkend & the big boys are coming at us starting this wkend with the black bears, so we'll know more soon enough. Still a ton of popups/fly outs vs ground ball outs at this point of the season.

Hitting wont really be noticeable till conference play is well underway.
Christian Trent will be a helluva start.

It's almost as if a hitting coach isn't the end-all, be-all determination of a team's hitting ability/mindset.

Through 16 games last year, we had 15 steals in 23 attempts. Right now we have 31 steals in 37 attempts.
