If you want to know what side of an argument an LSU fan will take, just ask what color jersey said player wore in college. I've never seen a fan base so biased towards its own players.

In today's game that team is good enough to win it all....but wouldn't dominate or anything I don't think.
I also have no clue how Pettit would stack up....but Maravich would for sure still be a stud in today's game imo.
I think having Shaq in his prime would be huge for this team. (Obviously)

Macklin, Carter, Livingston really didn't do much in the NBA.
My starters would be Shaq, Petit. John Williams, Pistol, and Kenny Higgs.
Davis, Bass, CJ, Roberts/Hamminck off the bench

What makes you think he'd be any better than Jimmer Freddette?

6'5" vs. 6'1", better handle, better passer

Starters:
PG - Randy Livingston (without knee injuries)
SG - Pete Maravich
SF - Rudy Macklin
PF - Bob Pettit
C - Shaquille O'Neal
The big problem is there's no NBA-caliber small forward. Macklin did not last long in the NBA. Bass can defend small forwards but he's a power forward. So you've got a big hole there.
I would put Livingston at point because if you start both Maravich and Abdul-Rauf, there may not be much passing. Abdul-Rauf would be my sixth man, followed by Thornton.
Bill Simmons seems to believe that Bob Pettit is a Top 20 player all-time and Bill Russell lists him as one of his top 7, so I have no qualms putting Pettit in there.

I really think if Maravich had his choice, he'd rather play the point that the shooting guard spot.

I agree on both counts. SF is where I was looking and LSU has had good ones, but not really ones you look to on an NBA championship caliber team.
I like the Livingston at PG possibility with Chris Jackson off the bench. CJ can play point in spurts too. Livingston would have been a great one if he had not gotten hurt and was right there with Jason Kidd as a senior in High School. He could have run that team well, I think. He still works with NBA developmental players, I believe.
I think that this is a playoff team with wins in the high 50s to low 60s. I added Roberts and Hamminck to have bigs coming off the bench to spell Shaq for the playoff run, but a Shaq in his prime (Orlando/Early LA) with a Maravich, Petit, and Chris Jackson/Livingston would be a great combo. Look at the team that Shaq made the Finals with in Orlando before getting destroyed by the Rockets. His supporting cast was nowhere near this good.
Team could win a championship depending on matchups.

You are clueless dude. Can you possibly support saying Bob is not the all star caliber player that many of us believe he is?

John Williams at the SF/Point forward.

I'll say it. Steph Curry is twice the player that Maravich was. The game has changed that much in my opinion.
i'll give you that Steph Curry might be a little better than the Pistol, but that dude ran the NBA in the mid 70s... NOLA Jazz just couldn't put anything around him
