I need to make a fresh thread to set up the other half of the tournament but I don't want to clog the front page. Please anchor

I do like your idea of keeping the eras apart, so we don't have a finals of all Renaissance films.

14 films in 20 years. I haven't seen all of those but I've seen most and I must say Pixar has been exception in quality over quantity.

I take out the Ghibli stuff, it doesn't mesh, and the Burton stuff. If we're still above the 64 you have to trim Pixar because they were a separate team for a long period of time.
Also cut National Treasure, also doesn't fit.

Why don't we do the 54 Disney and Pixar specific theatrical releases?
By my count if we take out everything you have listed except Disney and pixar we have 60 movies. Not sure where the extra 6 are from compared to Wikipedia.

National Treasure most definitely does fit. I love that movie. It is every bit as fun and legit to the list as Pirates.

Well, these add up to 60, and I'd say just put 4 Ghibli films in there. If I had to make my 4 picks it'd be:

Spirited Away
Princess Mononoke
The Secret World of Arietty
My Neighbor Totoro

Oh, and you forgot "The Rescuers Down Under".
EDIT: On second thought, add this one, then Mary Poppins, Song of the South, and Enchanted. That's 64. They're all at least partially animated, to where it works out better than Ghibli being part of this.

What is our cutoff here? RDU wasn't a theatrical release, yet was a better movie than several that were

Take out National Treasure and put in Pete's Dragon!

Fantasia 2000 is missing as well.

You could cut some of the animated films and add more live action.
Movies like Bolt, Chicken Little, Meet the Robinsons, Winnie the Pooh, Dinosaur, Home on the Range and Brother Bear have no shot to win the tournament.
These live action movies could replace them
Hocus Pocus
The Mighty Ducks
Heavyweights
The Santa Clause
Cool Runnings
The Rocketeer
Flight of the Navigator
You could do 32 animated films and 32 live actions films

The Rescuers Down Under may be one of the most underrated animated films Disney has every released.

Cut the live action stuff. Cut Tim burton. Cut Ghibli

No way can you cut live action, Mary poppins has to be in this tournament. Pirates of the Caribbean should be as well.

This.
A good way may be to just get a list of every WD release ever and put them in order by gross (adjusted for inflation). It seems silly but that could be a solid jumping point to get 1-64 rankings.
