What are the odds that we look at taking either Devante Parker or Kevin White with our first pick?

I know it is nowhere near our most pressing need but we do need a big possession guy to replace Colston.

Obviously we are going to be looking for one of the top pass rushers at our spot but if all of the big names are gone, what are the chances that we pick a receiver who could immediately step in to replace Colston then address DL/DB in the later rounds? We have seen the immediate impact rookie WR's can have in the past few years and talent like that may help us more next year than drafting a DB/DE that has to be coached up for a year or two.

Our window of opportunity with Brees at the help is closing every year so it would not surprise me at all to see this happen. I know we spent our first pick on Cooks last year but those two guys have completely different skill sets to compliment Cooks and stabilize our receiving corps for years to come.

Under 1%.

Its going to be Oline, DLine, or OLB.

They will sign a CB in free agency, IMO.

14% minimum. There are 3 guys that are pretty top 15 quality.

Let's be honest, with Payton you can never really rule it out. Say we sign Kareem Jackson in FA, the top OLB/DEs are gone, and White and/or Parker are available. At that point, WR becomes a real possibility depending on how they have the players ranked. I wish we had the luxury of being able to take Kevin White in the 1st though.

This is a really deep WR class, we don't need to draft one in the 1st.

Slim to none.

If Amari were to be there I think a team would make a good offer to trade up for him.

But I'm more curious as to how or why it took you six years to make your first post?

Very slim. There's no way both White and Cooper aren't taken by Cleveland's pick at 12. That leaves us with Parker, Strong, and DGB as WRs who can sniff being worth #13. And I'd rather not take either of them because the value + need of that would be horrible. Now if you wanted to get a receiver in rounds 3-7 I could be down with that.

I say negligible... but you never know with CSP... if the right guy is there, I could see him falling in love.

It will be O-Line, D-Line and LB in the first 4 rounds and we will likely pick up a CB or WR late to compete in camp but not actually make the team

#2 CB may be our biggest need, but it doesn't look like a good value at 13.

It's looking like Juneyah will miss little to no time, which drops the need for an edge rusher. Plus, of those highly rated edge rushers, Gregory, Ray, and Beasley are all a bit undersized for a 4 DL weakside DE. We don't really run THAT much 3-4.

Scherff probably won't be available. No other interior OL is really worth the pick at 13, though La'el Collins's 40 time could have Payton drooling with how often he runs screens. La'el looks like he can really pull out and get down field to block. I still think that he could be had in the 20's.

Leonard Williams and Danny Shelton are most likely off the board.

So that leaves us trading down (which we never do in the 1st), reaching for a player, or going with a combo of best player available and need. WR is still definitely a need. Colston is almost done. Stills and Cooks are definitely promising, explosive players, but neither fits the #1 WR mold that can win jump balls and outmuscle press CB's off the line. Many of us have assumed that Cooper was the clear cut #1 WR, probably because we've all seen him play more than we've seen White and Parker. But those latter two have their proponents, and there may not be a significant talent difference between them.

If Payton has a choice of a WR that he thinks will be a stud, a DE/OLB that he thinks will be really good, and a solid but unspectacular OG/C/CB, I can guarantee you that he'll go WR. With the way that this draft will likely shake up in the top 12 + our reluctance to trade down early in the draft, I'd put our chances at drafting a WR at around 50%. I just think that White and Parker are better players than the likes of Bud Dupree, Collins, and Waynes.

So much depends on other factors. If there actually are 5 pass rushers taken, Shaq Thompson, Danny Shelton, and both La'el Collins and Brandon Schreff?

I could see us taking whoever of DeVante Parker, Kevin White (my favorite), or Amari Cooper that's there.

kinda hard to guess without knowing what moves we'll make before the draft.

if they patched up the secondary by picking up a corner and picked up a center/ guard then yeah... maybe there could be a slight chance.

I never would have guessed us picking Meachem a few years ago with Colston and Devery Henderson already on board.

but if we did pick White or Cooper somehow I'd be like.... holy shite!!!!

in a good way.

Best on the board. Whichever player we like in a position of need we will draft. Therefore if a corner isn't there but a WR we like is, that's the direction. Same Vice Versa.
