It seems like this topic has already been broached on here recently, yet I am old and have forgotten. Please, OT, enlighten me once again.

Depends. Are you a pillow top or pillow bottom?

I sold mattresses at a major retailer for a year. If it isn't tempupedic or serta comfort (their memory foam series), then feel free to negotiate like a mofo. Don't be a dick, but the prices are flexible for non-tempurpedic.

My advice, go to your local store that has major brands, take time to find what feels good (don't lay on one thing and go with just because it feels better than your old bed). Then go online and find the best price. Us-mattress, Macy's, 1800mattress are all good. Bring the website printout or email them a link and they should match or beat it. If they don't price match, then get out of there.

One caveat, the same mattresses have different names every place. What you need to look at is brand name, coil count (this is the big one), warranty, and padding layers. If these match up, you have same bed, and any salesperson or dealer worth their salt will match the price. Delivery might be an extra charge if the online place charges. Happy shopping!
