We're in 1900 sq ft and that's cramped.

So yeah, I could be happy in a place like that assuming that I fricked my nemesis' widow out of it in a shady land grab.

i think if you add kids into the mix the house pictured would be impossible. but i will say that i think people are out of their minds when it comes to what they "need" their house size to be. i read people on here saying their 2800 sqft house is just big enough for two adults and two kids.

i grew up in a big family though and basically shared rooms with my brothers until i graduated HS. we had less than 400sqft per person and at one point less than 300sqft per person and were fine.

I could definitely live in that place by myself. Might have to be a tad bigger with a main divide to cohabitate, that way you don't feel like you're always in the same room as the other person.

That said, it always amazes me when house size thread come up the amount of people on here who claim they just can't live in a smaller house... and the definition of smaller is < 2500 sf. Do all of you have 5 children and a sickly parent living with you or something?

Yep, I do.

Wife and I stayed in a cabin that was probably 400 sq. feet or less a few summers ago and it was about perfect. Probably closer to 300 sq. ft.

I actually just built one. It's a 12x36 cabin. I'm still finishing it up and will add photos when I'm done.

Loving it so far.

a lot of people that live in these live in very temperate climates

they consider their yard or outdoor space part of their living space, which is cool, but not that feasible if you live somewhere with harsh winters or miserable summers

I could do it in someplace like San Diego
