I'm not a minimalist, but more of a functionalist. I want what I need to be functional, and the space fit the kind of lifestyle I like.

More than I care to remember,my family are mostly carpenters/contractors. I prefer welding and working with metal.Moving and connecting these containers is very quick to a couple of people that know what they are doing, a 40 footer weighs less than 4 tons.
2 forty footers can be connected and dried in, in less than 2 days,(about 720 square feet) after the footing, pilings are in place.
They are easy to move around with an excavator, or even a large forklift. I guess it's not for everyone, but I have seen what can be done with them, hell, I have helped do it.

While I couldn't live in one long term....I think it would be fun to vacation in one for a few months near someplace really awesome(ex: along the Pacific coast in CA or up in the mountains somewhere).

If you lived in one of those, do you really need a hot tub? C'mon, seriously?
Posted on 2/17/15 at 1:15 pm to lsunurse
why does that hotub have a smokestack. is it diesel?

Why not? That's sort of the point of them. Small space, but most people tend to be able to afford the small upgrades they like while remaining mortgage free.

Who wouldn't like a hot tub in a vacation rental?
Posted on 2/17/15 at 1:17 pm to Chef Leppard
Natural gas would be my guess.

Seems like the first good thunder storm the wind would knock one of those tiny sheds to it's side.

I've got friends who have small cabins off the grid and they have wood fired hot tubs. Pretty awesome, really

Buckeye, in one your pics your house is on a gooseneck and then later it appears to be on piers. Did you order the frame from somewhere or some sort of package deal?
A friend of mine, who has more money than sense sometimes, tried to start a log cabin retail place here in South LA and the houses came in big packages like that. I tried to tell him that log cabins just aren't very popular here but he lives in one and loves them so he thought everyone here would.
