Question about marines

I always thought marines were supposed to be badass. I'm not saying they aren't, but I know someone who used to be an active marine. He's very small with no muscle and he has the attitude of a millennial. He doesn't like to work and he is lazy. Are the marines getting lazy or is this guy an outlier?

There's something called the 10% Rule. In any organization, no matter how elite, 10% will be bottom feeders who slipped through the cracks somehow. Whether that be the Marine Corps, the student body of Harvard Law School, or whatever.

I knew a few Marines and they were really small guys, like 140 lbs. One got on roids and went insane and ripped his girlfriend's dog's head off and shot her in the face. She survived.
One Marine I know today is a badass.

Outlier. Not all Marines are badasses, but the majority of them believe they are. Boot camp and training instill a great deal of confidence and pride in them. Overall, still a great fighting force.

I know just 1 marine. SSgt. Coolest guy I know.

Outlier. I guess he feels he deserves to be a little lazy right now.

ask him what he's MOS was, my guess was S1 admin or simply a pog
even in the Marines we needed some to sort the mail or cut the checks

Be careful not to anger him. You won't like it when he's angry.

S1 always "misplaced" my important documents such as my ets orders and awards

Height isn't everything.

one of the toughest marines I know was a recon, played lineback in college, tough guy
He loves to tell the story of a sgt that cleaned his clock in an altercation - the guy was a little guy, career enlisted guy -
He says it taught him a lot about respect and not being so quick to judge someone by their size
You may want to be nice to the "wimp"

I've met a few smaller career senior nco's who were like the ones you mentioned. Whatever you do just don't step on csm's grass
