I always thought marines were supposed to be badass. I'm not saying they aren't, but I know someone who used to be an active marine. He's very small with no muscle and he has the attitude of a millennial. He doesn't like to work and he is lazy. Are the marines getting lazy or is this guy an outlier?
They are all lazy millenials with no muscle, every single one

The only time I ever had a lot of interaction with Marines was when I was at Ft. Knox at the US Army Armor School. The Marines send their tankers there to train to crew tanks. From what I saw of the Marine recruit tankers, the only difference between them and Army tankers was their headgear, how they rolled up their BDU blouse sleeves, and the odd way their DI's called cadence when marching. Army formations when marching sing cadence (Jody calls, etc.) and the drill Sargent actually give verbal commands like "to the left, march!". But the Marine recruit tankers never sang cadence and their DIs did not give actual word commands when marching. Instead they'd do some sort of series of unintelligible grunts almost like some sort of code that told the formation what to do. It was odd to say the least.
Maybe it's different for non-combat arms MOS troops, but there's not really much difference between combat arms Army soldiers and Marines from what I saw. At least that was the case back in the early 90s.

Exactly most military members are not combat trained.
I thought everyone had to do basic training? Isn't that training you for combat?

You do understand that most Navy Seals are built this way right?
They are small with no muscle? They aren't typically 6"5 bodybuilders but most aren't small with "no muscle".

Not sure if this is still the case, but back in the 80's when I enlisted there was a big difference in how combat arms MOSs trained compared to non-combat arms. For combat arms MOS soldiers we had what was called OSUT (One Station Unit Training) where from day one your training centered around your MOS (Armor, Artillery, Cavalry, or Infantry). This training varied in time depending on the MOS. If I remember right, OSIT for me in my original MOS (19D Cavalry Scout) was like 13 weeks.
Soldiers who had a non-combat arms MOS (cooks, mechanics, commo etc.) they had a generic "Basic Training" that was something like 6- 8 weeks. They learned just basic soldiering skills like land nav, hand to hand combat, BRM (basic rifle marksmanship), first aid, etc. After their "Basic Training" was done they'd then go to what was called "AIT" (Advanced Individual Training) that was specific to their MOS. For example if a guy enlisted as a commo specialist, they'd do their 6-8 week basic at somewhere like Ft. McClellan or maybe Ft. Jackson and then transfer to the commo school at Ft. Gordon.

So the marine tankers were just as fat as the Army ones?

Unless you're a 14 year old girl talking to another 14 year old girl, talking about another dude being "fat" is about as gay as two dudes jacking each other off.

I think he means sinewy, thin but muscular as opposed to bulky.

I read all that and got to "blouse" and I thought to myself..."That can not be what they call it."

The BDU top was called the BDU "blouse". The military had all sorts of odd names for just about everything.

I'm a Marine and I'm pretty goddamn useless outside of a combat zone.

More like physical hazing methods that resulted in serious injury and sometimes death. Yelling has never been an issue.

I only seen one seal and he was pretty lean. Out of all the green berets I have seen I'd say 50% were jacked and gassed to the gills

When a seal team would come aboard they were not the muscle bound gorillas people think of.
