When will this come here? Once again puritan America is behind the times.

I've heard it's been discussed by the owners and commissioners of some of the pro leagues.

It will have to be legal in more than three? states first.
And who cares? I can do it in the stadium on my Sportsbook app.

Today the EPL signed a domestic tv deal that's double what the NBA gets, and their league not only isn't falling apart over this, it's thriving.

Well yeah but the EPL is a far better product so it makes sense

oh I know, it's on the politicians. but the way to get the politicians attention in this country is to get a bunch of billionaires to say it something to change. that's where the owners come in.

Which is why so many clubs go into admin after relegation, right?

Yeah. And I've yet to meet anyone from the UK, man woman or child, that isn't into the BPL. No one here cares about the NBA. 1 out of 10 maybe.

Ehh it has been pretty shite this year, while the NBA is having one of its most entertaining seasons in decades.
EPL is their NFL over there and has a MUCH larger global reach than anything we have here.

Can the players bet too?
I'm asking for a friend. (his name is Pete)

I agree, and there is a lot more competition for viewership here.

Betting games is much more fun when in a room full of others gamblers. It's fun to watch the agony on their face as they watch their paychecks go down the drain.

if they wanted it, they could get it passed. the leagues/owners don't want it legalized as far as i can tell

Nope.
This is the subject of my moot court competition, FWIW.
Every state had an opportunity, a one-year window, in which to license a sports wagering scheme. Only four states did. It's a damn shame.
See: The Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act of 1992.

Strong lobbying kept all the business in Las Vegas.
Also, strong reactions from the right define the lefislation's intent: (1) protect the integrity of sports; (2) prevent the spread of state-sponsored sports wagering; (3) attack childhood gambling issues.
The first is directly related to the leagues wanting to maintain control over their product.
