re: "About Time" on HBO-GO/ Greatest movie of all-time

*SPOILER*
My only problem with the whole movie is the final walk on the beach not affecting the future, specifically the children. Time travel is impossible to get perfect because it's basically theoretically impossible, but I thought they dropped the ball on this part, and they could have easily avoided it with a rule change or just doing the scene as adults.

I gotta check this out. I've never heard of it

I watched it and went into about a month-long period of reflection. I then watched it with my 15 year old daughter and we held hands and cried and laughed and I will remember that for as long as I shall live. I can not properly express how personal that movie was for me or the thought it provoked. It is one of my favorite movies. The end was an absolute revelation.

They addressed that, they weren't viewed by anyone. Was just the two of them, and they were replaying something they had already done once.

Doesn't matter. They went back before his kids were born. It would have had an effect even on the sperm. The same reason why he can't go back to his dad after the third kid is born is the same reason that he shouldn't be able to go back to his childhood.

Great movie. I saw it on HBOGO but I would have never given it a chance without TD. I wish there were more movies like this.

Both About Time & Beginners are movies that continue to get better with every viewing. And both came and went without much fuss sadly, though Christopher Plummer did receive a very deserved academy award for his performance. Highly recommend both.

Great film with great performances. I was actually think about this film a couple weeks ago when watching Black Mirror and saw the main character, Domhnall Gleeson (his father, Brendan, is awesome too). I didn't realize this film was so universally well liked, but it is definitely worthy of the praise.

Wife begged me to go see this in theaters last year, so we went. I was under the impression it was going to be a Nicholas Sparks-esque romance, so I went in not knowing a thing about it.
I think I ended up loving it more than she did. The end sequence with the father had me doing the tough guy look in the theater where you're completely stone-faced in an attempt not to cry in public. It failed.
This movie and Big Fish are probably my two favorite flicks that I feel like really capture the father/son dynamic, albeit in different ways.

Each that's actually really annoying. The one thing is don't go back before births. Then at the end, they are just like frick it, we are gonna break the ONLY rule we set for time travel in this movie.
Oh well, I don't really care. It's not a sci-fi or action movie where they are breaking the rules to save the day or some shite. It's just for a feel good moment so I can live with it.

You should. Wish mine was still around.

Watched it last night with my son and we both surprisingly enjoyed it. Got a little sad there at the ending. Good movie...

This thread has definitely piqued my interest. However, I had my first child (son) last week. Should I wait until I'm not a blubbering pussy or just bite the bullet and watch it?

Bump. Just watched.
Great fricken movie. If you love your Dad, do yourself a favor.
Must be a guy thing. My wife was entirely unmoved.
