Doesn't it make sense to acquire a taste for a relatively cheap and common one?
Why would you go out of your way to develop a taste for something expensive and hard to find?
Exactly... I mean I'm sure there's a McDonald's around the corner from you. It's easy to find and cheap, with an acquired taste.
To be fair, my problem isn't with the beer itself, but with the company. They do all sorts of really shady things to keep themselves in business. They regularly find ways to keep local craft breweries out of grocery stores, because they have been steadily losing business to them. Part of the growth of craft brewers has been the explosion of brewpubs around the nation, that don't rely on distributors owned by Bud & co. In addition, they are known for buying out breweries only to fire everyone involved once the acquisition is complete. This happened at Rolling Rock (aka Latrobe Brewing).
One example of how small breweries stay in business is Dogfish, in Delaware. They opened their own restaurant, made their own beer, and then created their own distribution company. In fact, Discovery Channel made a show called Beer Wars a couple of years ago, showing how they make different types of beers. Show was cancelled by episode 4 b/c Bud & co. threatened to pull advertising. Anthony Bordain apparently was in the know, and made a big stink about it.
ETA: Show was Beer Wars, not Brewmasters

reminds me of the people who think this stuff is good. My cousin is a major drunk, the guy would drink the piss from a drunk, if he thought it would continue his buzz, and even he wouldnt drink this shite. had half a bottle and threw the 6'r away.
Uncle Ned on Family Ties wouldn't drink this garbage.

malt extract
This is what most home brewers use or at least start with. It's perfectly fine. Perhaps not great for complex beers, but it certainly isn't "disgusting."

It says a lot that the #1 beer in the country is made the same way as a first time homebrewer using Mr Beer.

Makes sense, doesn't it?

don't like the same thing they do
It's not about what they like. Rather, about what they dislike.
The whole point of the craft brew movement is that beer doesn't have to taste like bread soaked in alcohol. There are so many different combinations of ingredients and brewing styles.
It's kind of fun to walk into a store and hunt for something you have never tried before.

It's mass produced at multiple breweries around the country. Brewing with malt extract is consistent. There is nothing wrong with that. Think of it the same way soda machines use a syrup concentrate.

That's exactly the quality of their beers. It's the frozen food versus off the boat debate. $$$ vs. quality. I mean it's ok beer. Mediocre/bad beer doesn't really bother me so much as their business tactics to try and stay in business.

Rather drink shitty bud light then awful Budweiser.

Your comment makes no sense. Bud Light is the same beer as Budweiser except it has a higher water content, but Budweiser tastes awful?

Exactly. Bud light sucks mule dick.

Yep. Deal with it. That's how i think it is
I get the whole water thing and usually drink much better beers with higher alcohol complexity and hop content but for me bud light although watered down still tastes better than the complete awfulness that is Budweiser.
