Why do we want a guy who reportedly runs his players to the ground? I know he's a great coach but these reports don't sound favorable.
Because he's a great coach. Maybe you ask him to change things up a bit, maybe he learns from this season.
But dude is, without question, a great coach. If he gets us to winning, gets AD to stay here, but wears out his welcome and we get another coach to take us to the next level, I'm ok with that.

think he would limit AD both offensively and defensively with his philosophy.
Very fair concern. Why do you think that?

He interviewed with us multiple times before he took the Chicago job, and now he's got AD here.
AD and Asik, and Jrue. How could a defensive coach NOT want in on that. I can see how Cleveland would be seen as Move In Ready where as we're a bit more of a Fixer Upper, but he'd have to be very intrigued by the Pelicans.

Ive read some information about how his ICE treatment of the pick and roll would put AD in spots on the floor where he would make less of an impact.
If anyone has info to ease my, admittedly under researched, concerns Id love to be better informed.

I certainly wouldn't mind Thibodeau at all, but I would worry about him over-playing/practicing our players.

I don't know enough about the actual Xs and Os of his philosophy to say it wouldn't work with AD, so I really can't comment. Interesting.
All I know is, it works. Maybe this team needs someone to make them work.

ICE is just staying back and cutting off the guard correct? How is that putting AD in a less effective position? The alternatives would be to trap the ball which we know has often put him in a position on the floor where he makes less of an impact 25 feet away from the basket.

Granted it was against Euros which is a big *, but Thibs had AD looking like the best defender in the world for Team USA this summer.

And that's another thing I hadn't considered. AD and Thibs worked together a lot this summer. Familiarity.
Davis got to see what a real coach and real defense looks like.

I think this roster would be so fun to watch with Karl at the helm, but Thibs has my ears up...

I think the one criticism of Thibs defense is that it often has players like Noah pulled away from the basket. Again, im currently aware that im talking out of my arse.

Switching out coaches mid season could turn out to be a Flip or Flop.

One concern I would have with his reputation for riding players too hard is Jrue and his apparently not fully healed ankle.

i think i'm recalling when CP and Rondo used to get into it.
Posted on 1/20/15 at 11:41 am to Chad504boy
Ah yeah I do recall that. But that was a long time ago and he still interviewed (and was, by all accounts offered) for the job with us.

He's always had great defenses.

We were a shite show at the time. Everyone knew that CP wanted out and almost forced his way out that year, and we were owned by the league. We were a disastrous sinking ship.
Totally different circumstances now.
