Installing soft top
Never done this. Pay attention to the part about the roll bar brackets.

Removing the hard top
Takes two people to remove the hard top (or a hoist) and it's not something you want to do every day.
On the other hand, hard tops are nice during winter.

I cant live without my jeep. I dread the day i have to go back to a normal car.

I have a hardtop on mine, and heres a couple of things i have figured out to do with it. If you have a garage, there are hoist setups you can buy that grab the top and lift it into the top of the garage so that its out of the way. If you dont have a garage, there is a four wheeled cart that straps to the back of the top so that when you lift it off, you set it down standing up and can wheel it to whereever you want to store it. You have to have someone decently strong to help pick it up (most girls cant) but its not bad.

Heres a link to a hoist system: LINK

I've been caught in the rain a couple of times. The bikini top kept rain from falling in my head, but the wind from driving blew water into my back and onto the inside of the windshield. Probably would've been better to not have the top on at all and keep driving.

Quadratec.com , I have been getting most of my Jeep stuff from them since 1997, they have excellent soft tops.

The hard top is a pita without 2 people or a hoist. But it is more than worth it when it comes to not having to deal with all the noise of a soft top. And the hard top makes it easier to keep the interior warm/cold depending on the season.

I have had both. I cound I took the top off all the time when I had the soft top because I could drop the top and take it with me. With the hard top you run the risk of being caught without it. Most people with hard tops get a soft top for the summer and store the hard until winter rolls around. Soft top runs around $800.

You won't like a soft top after starting with what is on there

Soft top way to go. Even with scratched up windows. Better options with it on
I have the hard on now due to like I said for huntig season. Keeps my gear more secure. I almost didn't put it in this year but did so in December. About to take it back off and store in the garage.
Top panels are off and doors are if on this beautiful day. I'll zip it all back up for the rain Thursday and may hit the trails behind work to get a little muddy

My best advice is to get a REAL jeep and never have the top on it.

But if you have to get a convertible top Cherokee, a roof mounted pulley in the garage is the best for hard tops.

Love my Jeep and hate it at thw same time. Can be a pain in the arse. The more you frick with it the more potential for shite going wrong.

The tops leak, the the electrical is sketchy, under powered even with the new engine, a/c sucks in the summer, drives like a brick with a parachute but still better than they used to be.

Saw this top yesterday and have the want.

Don't forget to Jeep wave if you buy it. I've found that a majority of the 4-door JK drivers don't return my wave. Assholes.

yay a jeep thread.

what a bitch comment and worthless piece of advice. come get you some of this '81 scrambler i got in the shop and i'll keep my '13. frick you're leaf springs and lack of control arms. i can do way more, more confidently in this rig than i ever could in any CJ/YJ i owned.

nobody wheels in stock CJ's. any one you see on the trails (real trails) is in a Frankenstein that somebody sunk a lot of money into and one of the first things they do is get rid of the leafs and move to coils and three or four link suspensions (which today's stock wranglers come with).

if you want a nostalgic beach cruiser/mudder get yourself a CJ/YJ and do nothing to it. if you want a trail rig, buy a wrangler.

sorry for the thread hijack. OP get you a Spider web shade.

they're cheap and you never have to remove them no matter what kind of top you have or end up using. they provide great shade while open air driving.

i keep my hard top on for December through February and the soft top goes back on for the rest of the year. i go topless as much as possible.

I'm not knocking the new model 2-DOORS. I'm knocking the 4-doors. All of a sudden EVERYONE wants a jeep because now they can take the kids to soccer practice and look "cute" doing it. Or the mid life crisis guys who want a "weekend" vehicle but the gravel road at the park is the only action it sees. It's the white equivalent of black people and Dodge Chargers. It's only a matter of time before they find a new trendy vehicle and 4-door jeeps go the way of the H2 Hummer. Meanwhile, the true 2-door owners will still be on the trails living it up.

You are the jeep hipster.

Who gives a frick. If they weren't selling the brand would be defunct. Crawlers are built on the new longer wheelbase. If you want to be on the trails and have the money for a 4dr it is a no brainer.

Well, I own a small farm and a French Mastiff, so I need more space than the two door model allows.
But as stated, you keep up with that Jeep hipster elitist attitude.
