It's mid-tier.
So obviously, people who start tier threads.

It all depends on the compression ratio in your cylinders.

Octane has more to do with engine compression ratios. If that confuses you, you should buy 87.

People who buy premium for their accords or tahoes are idiots. Cars that say 89 octane really mean it, they are lower compression engines which will actually lose power with premium gas due to its lower energy potential. A higher octane is not better gas, its just a resistance to ignition. Higher compression motors require higher octanes to prevent pre-detonation caused by the higher compression.
tl;dr If you buy premium gas and your car doesn't need it, you are not an OT baller, you are just dumb.

My grandpa had a car that only took 89 octane. The car was from the 80's.
I would only buy a car that uses 87 even if I loaded beyond belief.

High compression needs higher octane. Octane retards detonation, which makes that higher compression engine generate more power safely.

Think of gas like motor oil, different vehicles need different weights/grades. You don't put 15w40 in a Camry, just like you don't put 0w20 in a F250. Different engines require different gas/oil.

I'm a poor but don't want the cashier to think I'm a poor just 'cause I'm also buying a 40 and a Slim Jim.

More likely you'll keep wasting your money on mid grade gas, pretending you're making a knowledgeable choice...

Ours says 91 octane minimum.

Where the frick do you buy that?
Some gas stations sell it...but anything higher than 91/93 is normally found at a race track. I know a few people who run 100+ octane in their cars when racing.

My wife's lexus SUV knocks on 87. Doesn't on 89.

It is quite simple really. You run whatever the owners manual says to run.
