This team rides or dies on Ryan Anderson's back. End of discussion

Its not Monty's fault. Its not Dell's fault. It's not Anthony Davis or Eric Gordon or Tyreke Evans or Omer Asik or Jrue Holiday or Austin Rivers' faults. It is Ryan Anderson's fault. This team lives and dies on his shooting performances. When he makes his shots, the Pels win. When he doesn't they lose. IT IS AS SIMPLE AS THAT. It has nothing to do with anyone else on this team or in this organization.

It is because of Ryan Anderson that the Pels have wasted so many masterful Anthony Davis 30 point performances. No one else. /discussion about Pels problems.

We rely on him to score big points, because he will give up alot of points on defense. He is the New Orleans Saints lol

I'm honestly really opening to trading him for a mid/later 1st and a depth piece.
We can just slide dante to PF.

Ryan has been up and down this year but it doesn't fall squarely on him. If you can't see how abysmal our coach is than I can't help you in understanding how the NBA works. Coaches are so underrated in this league and you can look at Boston as an example, no talent but great coach. We switch coaches with Boston and we would be 6 games above .500. Monty is by far the largest majority of the problem.

If Anderson isn't hitting 3s he's pretty much useless
Bad on D, below average rebounder, only average offensively around the basket
If he doesn't turn around his shooting he really serves very little purpose on this roster

This is just silly. Literally every Pelicans player other than Davis sees their offensive stats drop big time on the road. Meanwhile the defense goes from shoulder shrug at home to tire fire on the road. (BTW Anderson plays the same minutes at home and on the road). They lost because of defense. Even with Anderson off last night, they scored 107 points per 100, that's good enough to win in this league.
If fans really think trading Anderson when his value is at its lowest is a good idea, I'm going to go have a drink. Threads bitching about offense are omnipresent now, if they move Anderson they will be innumerable.

Yep, the whole team plays like shite on the road, not just Anderson-this points to coaching.

Return on him would be minimal at this point. Monty needs to cut his minutes back some and start playing Asik in the 4th when we have a lead.
This guy preaches getting fricking stops and when we need them the most he has the worst defensive player on the court and the best on the bench. This is not Ryan Anderson's fault.

Been saying this for years. Same for Peja back in th day.
You can look at the box score of those two and tell if we won or loss more than likely.

Yep. Monty was very publicly bitching about not having a defensive center this summer. Put Asik in to guard Sullinger.
If you want Anderson's offense, at least have Anderson guard someone besides the C. Olynyk was in and out down the stretch- why is Davis guarding him and Anderson on Sullinger? I don't know if Davis does that much better, but I'd rather take my chances with him.
Sadly, I think it's because, well Davis is a 4. And 4s can't guard 5s. It's just not done.

Tyreke, Gordon, and AD would be enough offense. I don't see why with a 6pt lead, we still trot out ryno.

Sullinger is a 4. Davis doesn't guard anyone worth a shite so we can save his body.
We've seen him block Dirk and Aldridge on fade aways, Howard and Duncan down low, but we'd rather him defend the 3 point line while Anderson struggles down low.

id argue against it, and say its Tyreke. When he plays bad, we lose.
He's shooting 36% on the road, and 38% from the field in our losses. That's debilitating when you shoot 15x a game

It doesn't matter who plays who. Whoever Anderson is guarding is going HAM.

That's one game out of the Pels 19 losses that he shot well. It doesn't take a philosopher to deduce if something happens 18/19 times, it is likely the problem. The other guys have bad games, but Anderson's the only one who seems to be off every other night. It doesn't help that he is a below average defender and relatively slow. I'm not trying to shite on him, but you can literally look at the boxscore after every game, strictly at RA's numbers to tell if the Pels won or lost.
Posted on 1/13/15 at 12:50 pm to NOLAbaby
you do make a point. trade him after one of his 30pt games.

I tried to get some numbers together earlier to make this same point, but what I found is that Anderson scores 17.5 in wins, 13 in losses. Wasn't nearly as spread apart as I thought it would be. So while he has had some big nights with big wins, it's hard to put the collection of losses on him.

it's not his scoring, it's the 3 pointers and his overall %
He can score 17 and we lose b/c he was 1/7 from 3, 4-8 on 2's and hit some free throws.
it's the 3's that's the main indicator.

In losses, the TEAM shoots 42% on 85 FGA and 30% from 3 on 19 3PA. For comparison, per game averages in losses for Anderson, Holiday, and Evans:
Anderson: 38% FG on 12 FGA 28% 3FG on 6 3FGA
Holiday: 42% FG on 14.5 FGA 33% 3FG on 4 3FGA
Evans: 39% FG on 15.5 FGA 21% 3FG on 3 3FGA.
Anderson is inconsistent right now. I wish he would play better, but he is not the reason the team loses. Every top down metric I've seen indicates the team is better with him on the floor, even with his defensive shortcomings and his slump.
You're right about the 3s though. But, to me, it's an indictment of the entire teams inability to generate more looks from deep. 30% of their 3s come from Anderson, a player coming off career threatening back surgery and a half dozen months of non basketball activity.
ETA: And to be honest, his 3% doesn't matter much right now. Teams guard him everywhere. That opens up the lane for Evans, Holiday, et al. His gravity, even when he misses, is helping the offense. That may change if he continues to run cold, but he still garners respect and attention from defenses
