Before I jump in here, is this a Hodor thread?

I'm towards the end of Book 3.

Not my intention to spoil anything. I was thinking of tragic characters and his to me seems the most tragic.

He becomes a ward of the Starks and returns home to find a father who scorns him and a sister that took his place at his fathers side. Then he has to choose between his adopted family, one which he is reminded daily of how he is not really a part of, and his real family which thinks he's become a Stark and treats him has such. So, he's really on his own no matter what he does. Damned either way. He's very immature and just self implodes with his poor decision making which is driven by his desire to belong. I started out disliking him but as I got to understand his situation I wound up feeling so bad for the guy.

Any person who says that an individual deserves to be tortured beyond his own recognition doesn't know justice and doesn't know mercy.

Theon deserves a quick death. But he doesn't deserve to get his fingers flayed to the point that he'd rather bite them off than endure the pain. His teeth broken and removed that he cannot eat without suffering. Dude probably lost half his body weight.

I understand the "he got what he deserves" stance. But anyone saying that is just trying to look like a big man.

He was Theon, for a moment when taking Moat Caitlin. Then back to being a bitch in the pound. I really hope he comes full circle and kills that fricking maniac. Maybe he turns the bitches on Ramsey. What sweet irony that would be.

To be fair, the book's description of Theon's torture is far more brutal. The psychological torture is intense.

I spoke too hastily. I see a lot of ASOIF in Faulkner. Especially The Sound and the Fury.

I tend to think the Others will kill Ramsay. Or Jon.

I wonder if they'll have him go down on Ramsey's wife in the show.

Psychological inadequacy leads to Hubristic vengeful plotting which leads to literal manly inadequacy. I'd say he drew the short straw. If ya know what I'm sayin'.

I really think it's the only appropriate death for him. With Theon, him killing Ramsay doesn't mean much to Ramsay. It's just one of his victims struck back. I think very few things can frighten Ramsay.

Jon Snow is Ramsay's natural rival, and I think Ramsay was an easy character for George to come up with since he made the exact opposite of Jon in every way. Plus it seems as if they've subtly set it up in the show. I see their meeting as inevitable.

Personally I think that by the time Stannis reaches Winterfell, Roose will have already been killed by the Northmen, but Ramsay will have escaped and fled to the Dreadfort. In the meantime Howland Reed and Maege Mormont will arrive at the Wall and give a newly raised Jon Snow the news of being Rhaegar's son and Robb's rightful heir, but he has a hard time accepting both of them. Only after talking with Theon does he even ponder accepting either idea of ruling for his father and Robb.

The Others will attack the Wall, and right when the Others are about to break through the Wall, Ramsay arrives with a thousand men, and demands that Jon Snow comes out and faces him. Jon agrees to duel Ramsay, and during the duel he announces himself as being Jon Targaryen, rightful son of Rhaegar Targaryen and Lady Lyanna, and chosen son of Lord Eddard Stark. Ramsay starts going through a breakdown as the Others break through the Walls. Ramsay's troops abandon him, and he is dragged away by the others shrieking like a girl (although I think Ramsay's death chapter will be from Theon's POV where he refuses to save him).
