Roswell has a couple of neat novelty "museums". Other than that it is a total shithole.

New Mexico outside of Albequerque is a barren wateland of absolute nothingness. Just mile after mile of nothing.

It's like the landscape from The Road without the grey sky.

New Mexico is easily the bleakest most depressing place in the US I've been through.

I got robbed at gunpoint by a guy in Gallup a few years ago. That's cool I guess.

I gotta give the Navajo credit. I went to my truck from my room really quick and he came up behind me quietly. I knew what was against the back of my head though.

Trinity site is not open to the public except certain days of the year. Its down range on a live missile range.

Depends when you're going. If it's summertime, go to the opera in Santa Fe. The open-air opera house in the mountains is a transcendental experience. Santa Fe downtown is a lot like the FQ but without all the piss and puke.

Albuquerque and Santa Fe are both loaded with good restaurants. Take the tram in Albuquerque to Sandia Peak. You'll ascend a mile in just a few minutes. Just don't do it on your first day. You need to acclimate to the altitude for a few days first.

Carlsbad Caverns is awesome. If you're driving take the southern route back and spend a day there.

Northern New Mexico is very cool. Santa Fe, Taos, Angel Fire are all pretty nice places with a lot to do any time of the year.

Venturing south of I40 is pretty shitty except for Cloudcroft and Ruidoso for skiing. I lived in Hobbs for 5 years and went to the military school in Roswell for high school. Trust me, stay north of I40.

Santa Fe, Albuquerque,

Don't go visit the magic stairs in the church in Santa Fe. But beautiful country those cities are in.

Was in Albuquerque a couple of months ago. Old Town was neat to tour, and we rode the tram at Sandia Peak.

Thinking of doing multiple trips:

Carlsbad Caverns, White Sands Monument Park, and Roswell one weekend.

Albuquerque, Sante Fe, and Taos another weekend.

Has anyone done Angel Fire during March? Thinking of taking a few days to do some skiing then.

Unfortunately, I'll never be able to visit the Trinity Site since it's only going to be open Easter weekend for the foreseeable future.

I think it's only open 2 days a year. I have a picture of the sign though. We were in the area so we drove past it. White Sands is really cool and worth seeing.

If it were me, I would ski Taos late in the season (consistently more snow and more runs). As far as the NM resorts I have skied, I would rank them as

1. Taos
2. Red River
3. Angel Fire
