money had nothing to do with the main reason he left. he's already a multimillionaire. chavis stayed with fat phil til the end.

Gotcha. I just read the quotes which were on a UF site so I'm sure they were slanted. Makes sense.

Lots of hearsay in that article. He's history, and I think we can do better.

He blows it with a fantastic offense in 2013,
offense ranked 6th in the sec? and has he had as many down years during his tenure on his side of the ball as miles has had on the offensive side???? NO

Do you expect an official announcement on why he left?
It's all going to be hearsay...

First mention of inner frustration with the NCG gameplan. Very interesting to see that he was still aggravated about that. I don't blame him.

His prevent defense cost more games than LSU's offense.

BS. without him Miles' arse woulda been run off. Yeah like the offense has really carried us since 2009!

I agree. I could see how frustrating that would be. Hopefully it opened some eyes but I seriously doubt that.

Chavis loves Les.
Interesting that his wife never moved from Knoxville.

Here's another common misnomer that gets thrown around in regard to Chavis and the 2011 BCSNC Game. No one is going to come to the defense of the worst offensive performance I have ever witnessed.
HOWEVER, go back and watch the first quarter of that game. Chavis is full of shite. Alabama ran roughshod over his shell shocked D in between the 20s ALL NIGHT. He looked just as bad as the offensive staff in that first half. The D just managed to stem the bleeding by holding up in the red zone and forcing FGs.
He made the same mistake as the rest of the staff. Chavis went into that game expecting a repeat of the first matchup. Obviously Bama had other plans.
He does come out the other side looking a hell of a lot better than Miles and Studs, considering the D kept us in life support until the 4 quarter. However, he shouldn't get a complete pass for the first pass. Fatigue didn't have anything to do with that. He just plain got out coached by Jim McElwain.
As for last year, he again, gets a pass for a young defense. He earned that pass with good to great performances before and after, but it still looks bad that he took his ball and left after the O kept him afloat just one year ago.

I'm convinced you have some type of personal issue with the guy now. Bama was scoring in the 40's and 50's with regularity that season. Holding them to 21 is a good game. It's literally making my brain hurt to see what kind of standard you are holding them to.

so, what this article would have you believe, is that Chavis pursued a job at South Carolina and NO ONE COVERING EITHER SCHOOL KNEW ABOUT IT, South Carolina chose NOT to hire him, LSU allowed Chavis to coach the bowl game knowing that Chavis future at LSU was HIGHLY SUSPECT, and that A&M paid Chavis nearly $400k more than he was making AFTER Chavis approached THEM for a job, just for shits & giggs.
that makes literally zero fricking sense and is a way for Chavis to deflect blame for his unseemly departure back at Miles.
