No, they were blowing quick coverages and giving up easy underneaths to HBs(and hell FBs at times).

We are missing pieces. As a 3-4 we need a 2nd OLB. With a 4-3, we need a DT.
Patrick Robinson has played well since Game 2 of the 2014 season, at least enough I feel comfortable that we don't need to break the bank.
Fix the OL first, this team lives and dies with the offense. Way too much pressure, untimely turnovers, and stalled drives over and over.

As a 4-3 Hicks would be the 3-tech and Jenkins the NT. Galette and Jordan would be the DEs.
We are missing LBs for either scheme though.
And no I don't want PRob back as our 2nd CB. We need a true #2. I don't even want him back as nickel because we have Vaccaro, White, Dixon, Frederick, and SJB( ).
But yeah, the Oline definitely needs to be addressed with 2 new starters in the middle(and a legit backup for Strief and Armstead because Harris is sit).

If I had a choice between a number 2 corner and a guy like Justin Houston/Aldon Smith I would take the latter.
I want us to find a FA number 2 corner but elite pass rushers are rare. If we can somehow get a dominant pass rusher, you take that first. Houston on the other side of JG93 is scary

KJ is a FA? Restricted or no? It would be awesome if we could get a guy like him.
i'm sorry.
he signed a 4 year extension a few days ago.

okay, maybe Malcom Smith then?
I mean the Saints have looked at Seattle LB castoffs before.
Hawthorne, Will Herring?
i know Smith might not be the splash signing people want but I'm trying to think of somebody who would be realistic as far as price at LB?

I'd take Malcolm Smith.

Give me Patrick Willis after they cut him as cap casualty.
I actually don't care who they want to sign, but give me Iupati above anyone else.

I'd definitely take Willis, but I don't think he's getting cut. I'd have to look at their cap though.
Edit:
With his low signing bonus hit, I see him getting extended or restructuring long before he gets cut.

You people are in for a major disappointment this offseason. We may see some restructuring, but guys like Evans and Colston are not getting cut and TOS is the year that all those salary cap rabbits Loomis has been pulling out of the hat come home to roost. We aren't signing anybody like Jason Pierre-Paul or Patrick Willis. We'll be lucky if we can resign Ingram and Harillson.

$20 mil Over to $20 mil Under the Cap in 3 Easy Steps(and Lose Only 3 Players)
Even without cutting those 3 players we are far from the rabbits coming home to roost. We can generate as much cap as we need to get the people we want.
And Haralson will not be expensive. He played well last year and we got him back for vet minimum.

There's speculation of it, but the chances of him being cut is 0%. I was joking about that.
Now honestly, I agree and that is what I fear. Unless someone is idiotic enough to give us a 4th rounder or something for Jahri Evans, he needs to be cut unless there's a press conference telling me he had a back injury all year long.
I think changing 2 of the 3 interior lineman will be sufficient in changing the dynamics of this team's line. Dallas built it piece by piece, but Iupati + a strong center (in draft, there are absolutely none in FA) would do this team wonders.

Guard and center are two of the easiest positions for a rookie to transition into IMO. Id rather address that need in the draft or give Senio Kelemete a shot to win a spot if we end up cutting Evans or Grubbs. For instance, Green Bay is starting 5th rd pick Cory Linsley at center.. The Colts start Jack Mewhort at guard (yes Im better bc we wasted picks in '14 and couldve had either).
Id rather go affordable at LB. I like Malcolm Smith. Akeem Ayers could be an affordable guy to look at- he seemed to revitalize his career in NE. Denver's Brandon Marshall had a breakout year and could be an affordable option (RFA though). Brandon Graham, Jabal Sheard, Pernell McPhee -- all would be nice gets.
Id rather spend big at CB. It's nice to finally have a competent CB in Lewis, but we need to get him some help. Im sure Revis is a pipe dream. Perrish Cox, Brandon Flowers, Kareem Jackson.. Walter Thurmond maybe? Cromartie? I dont know, but Id like to get the best possible FA at CB

I can tell it's been a while since you've seen a defense that can generate pressure consistently. Understandable as a Saints fan.
Saints were 4th in sacks last season, and that was with little blitzing.

I tend to agree with most of that, but my worry is that there aren't many CBs out there worth getting.
Flowers and Jackson could be solid numbers 2s, but if they are some of the best on the market their price is going to be ridiculous.

Yeah, you can always expect to overpay for a CB regardless. But at this point, you really cannot let this go on any further. They have to be aggressive and address CB immediately

Remember the last time we got a Seattle LB
Posted on 12/28/14 at 9:44 pm to bonethug0108
Yeah, I read your thread when you posted and like I commented already, they aren't cutting Evans and they aren't cutting Coldton and they aren't cutting Lofton. Grubbs is a maybe, but no certainty. At best is some restructuring. We've also got Jordan who gets paid 7 million next year then we have to resign him as an URFA. Between Brees, Graham, Byrd, Jordan and Evans, we don't have a lot of salary room and we aren't getting rid of any of those guys.
