why does it seem everyone is ok/pleased with Asik?

So far it seems he's just an ogre standing on the court...
He gets bullied down low, has zero ball skills, and is slow at everything. Consider me disappointed

Excellent explanation of your disagreement. You're about as impressive as Asik

So what part of my assessment is wrong. You still fail to counter or disprove. Does nothing but further my point....

Elite rebounder and defender who works well with AD, have you even looked at his stats?
Posted on 12/18/14 at 9:08 pm to ColeLSU
How many games of him have you watched?
Posted on 12/18/14 at 9:08 pm to ColeLSU
Are you watching this game? Dude is holding his own against Howard.

He has decent rebound stats but what should expect with his size and he's just standing around the basket...
I haven't seen every single game but when I watch him every time I see the same it seems.
Can't even count the times I've seen him go up to dunk a ball and come away with nothing. At least 20 times this year. That's straight soft and unathletic....

11 rebounds a game is "decent"?
He's an elite post defender that plays dirty and grabs boards.
That's his role.

I'm with you OP but PT loves him pretty unconditionally for some reason
This board has favorites and has a really hard time ever admitting any faults in those players
Asik is good at being big and positioning himself well. I'll give him that
Won't be too crushed if he walks after the season and we try and find another big man in FA

Fair enough I suppose
Just too many 'derps' from him so far

He is playing like Shite tonight.

Top rated defender and rebounder who can clean up the offensive boards and fight the big men for AD. He's doing exactly what we needed from him
Posted on 12/18/14 at 9:29 pm to 504Voodoo
Asik is the center we need beside AD
Having Asik defend and absorb contact from bigger/stronger interior defenders will prolong AD's career and allow AD to play his strengths
AD is best when he is free to roam and with a big guy like Asik who is competent underneath the basket that opens you up for a lot of things
AD's numbers this year are a product of how much he has grown and learned but also because Asik is there to help him out
Is Asik the best center in the league? no, but there are not many "elite" interior defenders in the league and he's one of the best of the current crop of NBA centers

See....
You just made me feel better about him.
Just needs to be better and stronger at basket when he does have ball

He's a necessary evil. It's like buying tires. Everyone hates having to buy tires. It's not a flashy purchase. But it just might get you to work or save your life
