Remember how Brandon Jennings and 2 lottery picks is better than Jrue?

He's not leading anyone anywhere. I'm still waiting for the better move than what we made, not the better concept, the better move.

That's sort of the point though. No one can give you a tangible move because no one has any clue what would have been available. Yes, that includes worse moves too.
If the fan base is now saying give them a few years to grow or the west is too tough, I don't see how going with picks would have changed much of anything.
I'm also not sure why people can't disagree or be skeptical. It doesn't inherently mean they hate the team. People who liked the moves say just as many dumb things as people who didn't.
Perhaps Demps was ordered to be good immediately. If that's true, tough to judge his moves on their own merit. Your boss says jump, you say how high

I can almost promise you that is the case.

Especially with this ownership and management group.

I was about to post something last night about Payton and Noel.
I know they are young but Payton is in the midst of AR'ish rookie year.
6.4ppg on 36.4 FG%, 23 3pt% and 46 FT%
not too hot.

There was something of a local bias with the Payton love.

yea i know but I dont buy that'd wed be in a better position right now with Noel and Payton and cap space than the moves we made. Noel is averaging like 8/6 and 2.5 turnovers a game(Asik only avg 1.6 for perspective). This team would be a really long way from contending if that was the route we went.

I don't either. Both of those guys are NBA role players, which can be had in free agency.

I think we have enough hind sight to play what if. Philly clearly wanted to hit the reset button and Jrue would have been eventually traded anyway. I'm sure any other teams wanting to make similar moves at the time has already gone in that direction, and that's the type of partner it would take to turn our rebuild assets into reload assets.

They can, but you have to be the sort that agrees to disagree like you do, not say "Brandon Jennings + Noel + Wiggins > Jrue. Fire Demps!" This was actually aimed at Bill Simmons and the national media that make snap judgements based on cliff notes more than anyone on this board.

my primary gripe with the holiday trade was the cost...I'm coming around on jrue but he is not worth 2 top 10 picks either in concept or reality.
If sixers wouldn't budge off their price then we should have shopped elsewhere. He was not the only traceable young vet out there

Fair enough. We'll debating this for a while.

You can't get hung up no an arbitrary value for "top 10 picks." If you take the best fit available with both of those picks, do they make you better than Holiday. I really don't think so.
I don't have any issue with the Holiday trade. Those mid-late lottery picks are a crap shoot at best.

He was the best and the best fit for us.

Disagree. I would certainly agree with the sentiment, if you were talking about two top-5's, but not two top-10's. Google the numbers. The likelihood of a pick between 6-10 becoming a contributor of Jrue's caliber is very slim. The odds heavily favor the likelihood of drafting an Austin Rivers (I like him, but any person in their right mind would trade two of him for one Jrue any day of the week), rather than a Paul Pierce or a Clay Thompson, who are the exceptions in that part of the draft, and not the rule.
Jrue is worth the gamble.

Well I think the view on the picks from the Jrue trade were that the 2013 draft was horrible so that pick was nit as valuable and we would be contending for the playoffs in the 2013-2014 season so that pick would have been worse also. The 2014 options still weren't super great in the draft it appears though.
We are competing in the west so we need much more talent than longshot picks at this point.
