Surprised it took this long to see this post make its way to the PTB.
No issue with it...Cold War is over and Cuba is an after thought now.

About fricking time.
You want to end Communism or opposite dictatorships? Free trade does that.

I assume that's true but I don't see it saying that in the link you provided.

The people that will have the biggest issue with it are the ones that smuggle in the cigars.
Just wait til the market opens up on all those American cars from the 50s still rolling around on the island.

I'm the first to criticize our gov't and leaders, but I also applaud them when the right thing is done.
Great day for freedom. Helping plan a bachelor party in KW this May. Hopefully can talk the guys into making that trip a little further south to the vintage land of classic cars and Cuban cigars.

Bad idea! Nothing will change for the average Cuban who will still have to struggle to make ends meet. Any and all economic gains will end up, as always, in the pockets of the ruling elite. And Cuba will continue to be communist!

So, nothing will change for Cubans, and Americans will have more liberty. What, exactly, is the problem again?

There's enough transplanted NE Jews in Florida to counter the lost Dem votes from the pissed off Cubans.

Maybe not, Cw; Communism has a way of doing itself in.
Just heard Stew Varney (Fox Business) say that Venezuela is in the economic tank, and with Russia imploding...Cuba will be hard-pressed for oil. Which is the basis for any economy.
Stew asserts that it is fracking, and our new economic power via oil...that is changing the whole Global political dynamic. Cuba is in a bind; they will need us...and you can book that with the new Congress and Obama heading to the golf course or back to street/community organizing...things are going to change.

You don't see tourism expanding, jobs created, and the services of the internet eventually defeating communism?
Think about the long run. There will be a huge economic development in Cuba. Casinos will open up (major reason for the start of the embargo), resorts will be established, and cigars will be cheap.
