Seems like this hasn't been asked on here before, or if it has it's been a long time

You only get one choice, so choose well

Mine:

David Bowie

but the lyrics and vocals are so...not good

as a Phish fan I mean I get it, but not sure my all time favorite could be a group with such subpar songwriting

All time, I guess I'd say Steely Dan. It's one of the few bands that I liked from Jump Street that I still find fresh and interesting today. As for current bands, I don't really have one that I like above all the others.

The vocals are terrible. It doesn't bother me at all. Not one bit. In fact, I love it. I prefer it now. It's drunken pirate music for bro's. Sing along off key; chances are your voice is better than the guitarist's.

As for the lyrics. There are some really bad ones. There are some so-so. There are some good. But they have two lengthy rock operas/epics with fun stories. The Mirrors, Feeling Twisted, Bombs, We Like to Party nightmares are few and far between in a catalogue of ~200 songs... they just draw a lot of attention. There are plenty of songs with good lyrics that aren't in either of the rock operas.

Some people can't get past the bad singing. I completely understand. Not only does it not bother me, but I love it. Missing out on some awesome songs because of a few retarded lyrics is silly though. If you don't have a problem with Phish's lyrics then you definitely can't dog on tDB.

I guess its just my opinion. I'm not going to be like Burt and BV and try to convert the masses. You either get it or don't. Its my musical crack.

I mean I like tDB. And I don't mind the lyrics or vocals or anything. I mean I listen to jamband stuff, I understand that is a pretty small part of all it. Most jambands write terrible songs. shite pretty much all of them.

Just not sure they could ever be more than a band I enjoy on a certain level because of that
