You don't just say that you eat/drink all these calories and you're going to gain x amount of pounds.

This takes absolutely nothing into account like, you know, burning calories.
Lifestyle.
Genetics.
Metabolism.
etc.

It seems like when I start a new diet and regimine it typically takes my body a couple of weeks before it kicks into gear and I start seeing results.

It's frustrating because the first couple of weeks are the hardest to give up old habits and be strict. Stick with it and be patient.

As in burn more calories=less weight?
But eat more calories doesn't equal more weight???

I get the whole metabolism argument. But the point I'm making is people think a "couple beers" a night or few cokes a day ain't no big deal don't realize just how big a deal it can be.

Obviously the answer is exercise,

The answer is calories need to be lower than your TDEE for weight loss.

To be in "better shape" you want to get the most satiety and bang for your buck for your calories so beer is not optimal. Make sure you are getting a lot of protein as well.

It's all about counting calories. Give yourself a 1200 calorie a day limit and you'll see results in a week. Big time results in 4 weeks esp if you throw in a morning walk around the block a few days a week. If I knew I wanted to have a minor shite show I would go coffee in the morning (0 calories), a meal shake for lunch (150-250 calories) then maybe a small base snack before commencing the bevs. Would still come out under 1500 most times. I lose 20-30 lbs every Jan-March with that recipe.

1200 calories a day is a terrible idea, women that are 5 feet 95 pounds can cut on more than that.

OP you are 6'0 205 pounds you aren't that fat and don't have that much to lose. Take it slowly and cut on around 1800-2000 cals a day and lose about a pound a week. Make sure you get a good amount of protein (chicken breast, greek yogurt, tuna, etc) so you can preserve muscle while you're on the cut.

This is not the answer for everyone. I have a friend that wanted to go from 10% body fat to 7%. He is eating so much food that it seems ridiculous. He probably eats eight times a day. His 10am snack is 10oz of roast & rice.

This is terrible advice. You will lose weight doing this, but your body will go into starvation mode and store everything you consume as fat. The scale will look better, the body will not (which is what people are going for, especially since you are only 200 pounds), and it's not a sustainable diet.

Starvation mode is a myth but you are correct the 1200 calories is terrible advice. Reason being is it's not sustainable, you won't have any energy, you'll be irritable/won't sleep, etc.

Good point.

Keep in mind that treadmill running does not equal running on pavement.

That's a 150 calories a beer, 300 calories a night. 2,100 a week, 8,300 a month. That's 2 plus pounds a month--25 + pounds a year. 50 + pounds in two years. Adds up quick.

Damn...

I never had a beer belly to loose. Switch to straight liquor and you won't have one.
